1 RFP Residence Hall Beds Addendum 001 Issued March 14, 2014 Below are the questions we have received from various parties with respect to this Request for Proposal, along with our response (indicated in red font). Although we have endeavored to remove duplicate questions, we have presented the questions below in an unedited format. We hope this is helpful to you in preparing your proposal. Please remember that proposals are due by 2:00pm Mountain Time on March 21, This addendum is number 001. Please follow the submittal instructions carefully when submitting your proposal. CMC is not able to accept a late submittal as determined by the Rocky Mountain BidNet system. Remember to allow a few extra minutes for any technical difficulties. Do you have a picture or drawing of the shelf unit so we can be sure we are bidding the right item? Diagrams of bed shelves are not available. Each manufacturer designs their own solution. Bed shelves are expected to be easily affixed and removed and may consist of an all wood or wood/metal combination construction. Are mattresses a part of this RFP? Mattresses are not part of the scope of this project. Current mattresses will be reused. The numbers are a bit confusing. For Steamboat your ask for 236 pairs of bed ends but only 75 loft kits and then 100 each of ladders and guard rails. Does this mean you are only going to top bunk 75 of the 236 and if so what are the extra 25 ladders and guard rails for. The number for the other two locations likewise do not match up.

2 The issue of lofting and bunking is 2 separate matters. Lofting allows students to configure their bed at a high height without an addition spring deck being used. It requires a different stabilizer bar and accessories depending upon the manufacturer. Bunking will be considered as the stacking of 2 complete beds upon one another. t all beds will be lofted, but all lofts will be required to have a ladder and guardrail. Beds that are bunked will be offered the option of a ladder and guardrail. This is the discrepancy between numbers. Loft kits are expected to consist of additional bed ends or risers to complete the height adjustment and whatever stabilizer bars and hardware the manufacturer requires to provide a safe and secure bedding solution. Loft kits are NOT to include ladders and guardrails. Those must be quoted separately. What is the project address? See three campus address on RFP Is this project applying for leed certification? How many floors on-site? Three floors Furniture needed by? June 30, 2014 Is this a single trip install or multiple trips (phases)? Single Are there freight capable elevators? Passenger elevators freight capable

3 Is there a dock? If not, how close can the truck get to the building? Within 20 feet If applicable, are street parking permits required? t applicable Can you accept deliveries from 53 semi-trucks? Yes Do you require union workers? Can you provide floor plans or layouts? Yes May prospective bidders visit the job site? Is this an existing building or new construction? Existing building Will the area be furniture ready at delivery (all trades clear)?

4 Some areas may be occupied by conferencing. We will work with installers to minimize impact. Is there an area available to unbox and pre-assemble furniture? (Example: lobby, dock or covered parking area) The main lounge in building will be available. Will vendor be responsible for debris and trash removal? Yes If applicable, will dumpsters be provided? If applicable, will owner offer recycling services? What is the reasoning for the exclusion of rubber wood products from the proposal? Our current bed product is produced from rubber wood. We believe that a combination of our higher elevation/extremely low humidity and the nature of the wood species has led to excessive wear and cracking of our current product. With the bunking pins for the beds, with test data showing that imbedded steel pins in a solid wood 3x3 bedpost test is stronger than with a metal channel held on with screws into the bed end, why is this method being selected if not for strength? You may make your test data part of your proposal. Current bed products receive an unusual amount of wear and tear in the pin channel from our current spring decks. Wood shaving along the channel is significant within our inventory. Additionally a percentage of our bed ends have experienced shifting of the pins within the post including them falling out. This could allow a student to improperly or unsafely mount the spring deck to their bed end unknowingly. The absence of the entire metal channel could not go unnoticed. Additionally, several manufacturers have integrated the pin channel into their mortise and tenon construction allowing for increased strength and stability unavailable with normal joinery.

5 What are the mattress sizes going to be for the different campuses? Spring decks are expected to hold a 36x80 mattress. What size mattress are you using? This affects the bed size.. Spring deck length should be for an extra-long twin mattress 36x80 Shelves are requested. Do you have some specifics regarding this, such as size, how attached et al? Diagrams of bed shelves are not available. Each manufacturer designs their own solution. Bed shelves are expected to be easily affixed and removed and may attach to the rails of the bed end or to the pegs in the channel. Shelves may consist of an all wood or wood/metal combination construction. Loft kits are requested, but again specifics would help. Some vendors consider placing the spring deck at the highest height "lofting". In other words they would say there is no loft kit needed. But we believe you intend to place the bed atop a set of bed ends. This requires two bed ends and stabilizing bars to prevent the bed ends from splaying out. Loft kits are expected to consist of additional bed ends or risers to complete the height adjustment and whatever stabilizer bars and hardware the manufacturer requires to provide a safe and secure bedding solution. Loft kits are NOT to include ladders and guardrails. Those must be quoted separately. What do you mean by customizable finishes for bed ends? Are you asking for the standard finishes from the vendor or are you asking to pick a finish of your own choosing? If the vendor has an acceptable color we would be willing to use a stock finish. Otherwise customized stain and color matching to current/future case goods and built ins is highly desired. You ask for financing of this project. Can you be more specific? Are you asking that the entire order has to be financed by the manufacturer as in a loan over a fixed period of time? Financing is not sought due to need, but as a possible option to accelerate other amenity upgrades in our residence halls. Final terms would be negotiated after your possible selection as a vendor. At this time we are only interested in whether or not financing on a 3-5 year term would be available. Interest rates must be competitive to current market rate or below.

6 To remove existing beds is not an issue, but recycling is quite another. Beds may be infested and no one would recycle them. But they may be burned as fuel. Recycling does not necessarily mean breaking down components for reuse, but could include finding additional interested parties or charities that could use the product as is. The college will NOT consider incineration as a logical or appropriate disposal method. Do the ladders and safety rails have to be produced domestically as well? item must be produced domestically. Domestic manufacture is a preference as listed in the RFP and will be ranked in the final decision matrix. Imported goods are acceptable, but will rank lower in preference. Since ladders and guardrails manufacturing was not specifically mentioned in the RFP their import status will not affect ranking. Would it be ok if we provided two options for the bed ends and spring decks to be made both domestically and overseas? Multiple options will be accepted
