1 General page 1. Standard for manhole tops The official Standard for manhole tops in Israel is IS 489 (2003). This Standard is almost identical, except for a few minor differences, to European Standard EN Choosing a cover The main types and most useful ones are B125, C250, D400 Type B125 C250 D400 Purpose, areas of use Sidewalks, parking lots or parking surfaces, areas for pedestrians. Setting the cover/grating within the frame Manhole tops installed in roads have to withstand various traffic loads. The Standard requires that the planning of the cover be such that ensures proper functioning under the relevant traffic conditions. Depth of the insertion of the cover with the frame (depth of the seat) Regarding type D400 manhole tops for roads, the Standard requires a insertion depth of at least 50 mm (in manhole tops without locks). The Wolfman Company supplies its D400 type manhole tops with a insertion depth of 60 mm (greater than the Standard requirement). This ensures good stability of the cover and prevents the possibility of the cover coming out of the frame under conditions of fast-moving and heavy traffic. 6. Processing the contact surfaces The D400 type manhole tops supplied by the Wolfman Company have machined contact surfaces. This improves the stability of the cover and prevents the cover from rocking in the frame 7. Lining to dampen noise In the D400 type manhole tops for roads supplied by the Wolfman Company, are installed special linings to dampen noise between the cover and the frame. The linings are manufactured from special materials that are installed in the frame and prevent direct vertical contact between the metal of the cover and the metal of the frame, thereby reducing the noise under fast-moving vehicular traffic. 8. Lockable manhole tops The Wolfman Company s D400 type Click-Lock manhole tops have a hinge and spring lock. In our opinion locking devices using bolts are invalid and are not recommended for use. Advantages of the Wolfman manhole tops 1. In the D400 manhole tops for roads the contact surfaces between the cover and the frame are machined. 2. All frames are supplied cast with a reinforced concrete frame, which improves the installation and makes it easier. 3. All the D400 type manhole tops are made of spheroidal cast iron that is unbreakable. 4. All the D400 manhole tops for roads have special linings to dampen noise. 5. All kinds of covers and gratings of the same type and same are interchangeable in frames for instance a cover and grating are interchangeable. 75

A closed cover is always a locked cover. 2. The cover is only pushed closed and easily opened without special tools. 3. There are no bolts that could get lost or screw threads that could be damaged. 4. The cover does not catch for many years. Dirt does not hamper and closing. 5. The contact surfaces of the cover and frame are machined to prevent rocking and to improve the stability. 6. Between the cover and the frame is a dampening lining made of special plastic material to prevent noise. 7. The frame is made of cast iron combined with reinforced concrete. 8. The height of the frame is 12. This structure improves the quality and convenience of the installation. 9. The Click-Lock cover is an excellent cover for roads on which the volume of traffic is great.. The Click-Lock cover is made of spheroidal cast iron. 8 Wolfman SUPER Flow Rainwater Collector System General Wolfman s SUPER FLOW Rainwater Collection System was developed in order to improve the rainwater collection systems prevalent in Israel in models based on catch basins and in proximity to curbstones or island stones. In addition the new system was intended to prevent or at least make things more difficult for theft of gratings which had become a national epidemic. The main improvements in the system The gratings cannot be easily stolen they are installed by means of hinges to the frame. Curbstone made of spheroidal cast iron and therefore unbreakable. The cast iron stone is connected via 4 bolts to the base of the system and therefore the installation is stable and robust and will not be dislodged as a result of the impact of vehicle wheels. (In the current system the curbstone is secured in place by non-reinforced cement mortar and consequently the phenomenon of breakage and dislodging is common). The stone is attached by means of 4 bolts enabling the height to be adjusted as required by adding spacers under the stone. Each SUPER FLOW system is supplied with a strong frame made of B-50 reinforced concrete. This frame ensures and facilitates the following advantages: The entire system is a single unit attached to a single base: the grating, frame and curbstone. The integrated frame of the system facilitates good and easy installation on catch basins. There is no need for the asphalt to reach the grating, but only up to the reinforced concrete frame. The system has improved collection abilities as opposed to existing systems. Opening the gratings on their hinges (like a door) facilitates easier and safer working for maintenance personnel who have to clean the catch basin. Place the frame at the proper height. Install the inner and outer mold. Cast the B-40 concrete mixture. Cure the concrete with a damp sack cover or polyethylene sheet. Dismantle the molds, clean the frame and install the cover. Recommended stages of implementation: Select the pre-fabricated elevation rings for the required height. (One or more rings). Install using quick drying compound of the CEMENT ALL type or equivalent. Cure the concrete with a damp sack cover or polyethylene sheet.
