7 What to Expect Near Term Expected near term construction activities: Survey Environmental Signage 811-Call Before You Dig Call Utility Positive Visual Identification (Soft Dig or By Hand) Raising Powerlines/Relocation Construction Driveways/Access Pads Tree Felling Clearing Pipeline and facility construction work is typically scheduled to take place during daylight hours; typically six days a week. 8 Anticipated Construction Schedule City of Green Spread 1 mainline construction is anticipated to begin near Kensington, OH in April, and will move from east to west through Columbiana County, Stark County, Summit County, Wayne County. Grading crews will be near or reach the eastern limits of the City of Green in the summer of Road boring crews may be interspersed with the Grade crew Each succeeding crew will follow at approximate two (2) week intervals in an assembly line fashion. Any number of the following crews may be working within the City of Green during the late spring 2018 through the end of summer of Grading Stringing Welding Coating Trenching Lowering In Tie In crews Backfilling Hydrostatic testing Restoration Restoration crews will be near or reach the eastern limits of the City of Green at the end summer 2018; finishing the majority of work around early fall

11 Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Process Overview There will be one HDD installed within the City of Green. Installation of a pipeline by HDD is generally accomplished in three stages: The first stage consists of directionally drilling a small diameter pilot hole along a designed directional path. The path of the drilling string is tracked and directed using surface monitoring systems. The surface monitoring system determines the location of the drill bit in the hole by taking measurements from a grid or point on the surface. This allows the operator to follow the designed directional path. The second stage involves enlarging the pilot hole to a diameter that will accommodate the pipeline. The enlargement process involves the use of hydraulic cutting with drill bits and jet nozzles and hydraulic motors (also called mud motors ) used to cut harder soils. It can take several passes to enlarge the hole to the required diameter, which is typically 12 inches larger than the pipeline being installed. The third stage begins once the pilot hole is enlarged to the correct size. The section of pipe, prepared in advance, is pulled back through the hole using the horizontal directional drilling unit. 11

13 NEXUS Environmental Commitment To design, construct, and operate the project in a manner that minimizes environmental impacts. Compliance with all project permits and environmental authorizations is crucial to the Project s success. Encourage and maintain effective communications. Avoid/prevent environmental issues or noncompliance situations before they occur. 13

14 Environmental Inspection Team for Spread 1 Environmental training is conducted for all construction personnel, inspectors and project visitors. The environmental inspection team assigned to Spread 1 (where the City of Green is located) consists of the following: One Environmental Construction Permitting Manager One Environmental Inspection Coordinator One Lead Environmental Inspector (LEI) Four Environmental Inspectors (EI) One Agricultural Inspector (AI) One Environmental Report Coordinator Biological and Cultural Resource Specialists as needed 14

15 FERC 3rd Party Compliance Monitors In addition to NEXUS environmental inspection team, FERC also maintains Compliance Monitors in the field. One full time FERC Compliance Monitor for Spread 1 FERC Compliance Monitors will: Inspect the Project for compliance with FERC and environmental permit requirements Complete daily inspection reports and weekly inspections reports 15
