(GEC) is pleased to present this final report of Targeted Asbestos sampling results for the above referenced sites. This letter outlines the analysis results for the samples that were collected by GEC on October 7 and 8, 04. Mr. Anthony Whipple, an Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act / Asbestos Schools Hazard Abatement and Reauthorization Act (AHERA/ASHARA) accredited Asbestos Inspector with GEC, obtained 38 samples of suspect flooring materials from areas where flooring is planned for renovation/replacement within Bernd Elementary and Riley Elementary schools in Macon, Georgia. The results for the sampling are reportedly to be used by the Bibb County Board of Education to augment additional asbestos sampling data it already possesses to guide its renovation activity and avoid unknowingly disturbing asbestos containing material (ACM) within the subject schools. The samples were submitted on October 30, 04 under appropriate Chain-of-Custody procedures to Analytical Environmental Services, Inc. (AES), in Atlanta, Georgia, a laboratory accredited for Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) analysis of bulk samples for asbestos content. The material sampled was generally limited to floor tile and mastic/glue and carpet mastic, but at Riley Elementary, wallboard and wallboard mud (joint compound) and some crack filler material were also sampled. According to the results, NONE of the samples tested positive as Asbestos Containing Materials, by the definition of any material with greater than % asbestos being considered asbestos containing material. The sampling was conducted per request of the Bibb County Board of Education in preparation for renovation/repairs in the area.
