3 ACB Stemmed From a Partnership European Union Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Cooperation

4 From ARCBC to ACB from a project to a Centre ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation ( ) ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity ( onwards) The ARCBC was a five-year Philippine Government project, funded by the European Union which serviced the biodiversity management needs of the ten ASEAN member states through capacity building and trainings, research funding, database development and management.

5 Enabling Instruments Agreement establishing the ACB signed by ASEAN Member States in 2005, ratified by 6 countries (Brunei, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, and Viet Nam) Host Country Agreement signed by the Philippine Government in 2006; concurred by the Philippine Senate in 2009 Financing provided by the European Community (Euro 6.0 M) and the ASEAN Member States (Euro 1.3 M) amounting to Euro 7.3 Million until mid (note: provided through the EC-ASEAN Financing Agreement, EC-ACB Contribution Agreement)
