3 ABOUT THE ITALIAN FORESTS INVENTORY DATA National Forest Inventory (IFNC) may ,4 M ha total forest (8,7 M ha forest, 1,7 other wooded land) Land coverage 34%); 2/3 above 500 m asl; 63,5% private, 32,4% public; 81,3% potentially available for production, harvested 8 M m3/year (5 Mm 3 fuelwood); estimated 12 billion trees; Management by Regions.
