13 The following table includes comments relevant to the House Type performance with respect to the CSH. CSH Category House Type 5 House Type 6 Energy and CO 2 Both house types are capable of delivering Code Level 3 and 4 CO 2 emissions: Emissions level 3 without renewables, level 4 with solar thermal DHW or a heat pump system. Current drawings do not show enough CFL light fittings. Supplying Energy Efficient White Goods will increase the CSH points score. Home Office rooms must have 1.5% daylight factors, sufficient space and service sockets. Water It is possible for these house types to deliver Code Level 3 & 4 water consumption without resorting to grey water recycling or rainwater harvesting. Provision of Water Butts is an easy way to gain points. Materials Both House types can deliver maximum points in this category provided the supply chain briefed and monitored on responsible sourcing requirements. Surface Water Runoff Site specific points. Where possible use low flood risk sites. Always appoint a consultant/expert to advise on and implement SUDS drainage schemes. Waste Planning waste recycling effectively from the kitchen through to the local collection and recycling plants is a relatively easy way to gain points. If there is sufficient space supplying a composting unit with instructions will gain CSH points. Construction Waste: This can be incorporated as a condition of the supply contract. Pollution Global Warming: This focuses on ensuring all insulations are CFC free and have minimal or no global warming potential. This is a specification and supply chain issue. NOx Emissions: A lost cause where grid electricity is the primary heating fuel (including heat pumps). The impact of other fuels can be minimized to gain points through diligent specification in accordance with CSH guidelines. Health and wellbeing Daylighting: Both house types perform badly on this issue. This also prohibits scoring points for a home office. Sound Insulation: Besblock Party Wall RD E-WM-5 will score 3.5 points for these House types provided the site is registered with RDL Management Ecology Lifetime Homes: this house type can with very little modification meet all 16 requirements. Lifetime Homes: this house type has fundamental issues that prevent it from meeting all of the 16 requirements. Home User Guide: A good home user guide template can be used over and over again with appropriate edits for local services etc. Considerate constructors: A supply chain issue that is fairly easy to deliver. Construction Site Impacts: Strategies for monitoring, controlling and reducing site impacts. This can be incorporated as a condition of the supply contract. Security: Specification of secure by design windows and doors. Appointment of an ALO or a CPDA early on in the scheme. Where possible avoid greenfield sites and improve the local ecology. Appointment of a suitably qualified ecologist before any site clearance or construction work starts Building footprint: 2 storey = 0 points Building footprint: 3 storey = 2.67 points Commercial in Confidence -12- C4Ci Limited 2009
