3 The global tendency towards more stringent clean fuel specifications, the refining industry's efforts at resolving this issue, the growing demand for transport fuels and the shift to diesel fuel mean that hydrotreatment has become an increasingly important process of refining in recent years. Hydrotreating technologies are continuously associated with intensive research in development of advanced catalysts design for oil refining processes. STS program is traditionally devoted to the development of new catalysts and processes for refining, as well as tendencies of the technological development of these sectors in the world. Previous events held in St. Petersburg (Russia) and Belgrade (Serbia) convincingly demonstrated the deep interest of participants in the achievements in these areas of science and technology. The main objective of the forthcoming symposium is an analysis of trends in the development of advanced catalysts design for oil refining processes, exchange of opinions between scientific experts and representatives of industrial companies on the achievements in the development of new catalysts and their use, the elaboration of unified approaches to the introduction of innovative technologies in the industry. SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM The main topics of the Symposium scientific program are: Perspective catalysts and hydroprocessing technologies of hydrocarbon fuels Promising catalysts and hydrocracking technologies Catalysts and hydroprocesses for the alternative and renewable raw materials hydroprocessing Catalysts and technologies for fuel and oil fractions hydrotreating Heavy oils hydroprocessing Catalysts and hydroprocesses for the light hydrocarbon feedstock hydroprocessing Industrial experience of production and use of catalytic cracking, reforming, hydrotreatment and hydrocracking catalysts Modelling of oil refining and petrochemical catalytic processes Catalysis in the production of oil and hydrocarbon feedstocks Economic aspects of the catalysts use in oil refining The Program will include plenary (45 min), keynote (30 min) lectures, oral (15 min) and poster presentations. 4 PROCEEDINGS The abstracts of all accepted presentations will be published electronically with an assigned ISBN, and placed at the website. It s planed that selected Symposium papers will be published in the special issue of the Catalysis Today Journal. LOCATION The symposium will be held in Lyon, the third largest city of France, a major centre for the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries. The long history of Lyons which was founded by the Romans in the 1 st century B.C. has continued to play an important role in Europe s political, cultural and economic development ever since, this is vividly illustrated by its urban fabric and the many fine historic buildings from all periods. The choice of the Symposium location is due to the fact that Lyon can be considered as a technology oriented city. The presence of a large number of universities, research companies, along with large industrial complexes, creates an active and creative atmosphere. Lyon is rightly called the European capital of catalysis. This is a town of intelligence. So it attracts scientists from all over the world to participate in a large number of scientific events, which are usually held in Lyon.

5 SYMPOSIUM VENUE The Symposium will take place in Domaine Lyon Saint Joseph ( lyonsaint joseph.fr). This hotel and conference is located just a 15 minute drive from the centre of Lyon, in the heart of the Francheville valley and the communes of Monts du Lyonnais. Its location offers an exceptional panorama. Authentic greenery in a park of 5 hectares, attractive gardens provide a serene atmosphere, perfect harmony with nature, calmness, predisposition to pleasant and productive activity. REGISTRATION FEE The registration fee is expected to be 580 Euro for each registered participant of the Symposium with reduced (380 Euro) rate for students and PhD students.
