3 John Wayne Airport (SNA) Owned and operated by County of Orange, California 35 miles south of Los Angeles 500 acres and 2 runways Serves 9 million passengers annually 400 General Aviation (GA) aircraft

4 SNA Regulatory Background Storm Water Upper Newport Back Bay listed under the Clean Water Act as an impaired and protected body of water set total maximum daily load allowances for nutrients, sediment, metals and bacteria Permits Orange County MS4 California General Industrial Permit Air Quality SNA is located within the South Coast Air Quality Management District, one of the strictest in the world

8 Airport Sustainability Airport sustainability practice is a broad term that encompasses a wide variety of practices applicable to the management of airports. The term refers to practices that ensure: Protection of the environment, including conservation of natural resources. Social progress that recognizes the needs of all stakeholders. Maintenance of high and stable levels of economic growth and employment These three components of sustainable development are often referred to as the environmental, social, and economic triple bottom line.
