PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To provide technical and administrative support to the Planning Service Section with particular focus on the development process To assist in the provision of an efficient, effective and professional Planning Service 1 P a g e
2 MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES To receive, pre-validate, register and process planning applications, non-material amendment applications, condition discharges and other applications, received in writing or through the Council s website. This includes administration of planning fees, processing cheque and card payments, preparation of file, pre-validation, updating computer databases, carrying out consultations and neighbour notifications To assist in the validation of straightforward and householder applications. Deal with general planning enquiries by telephone and . Processing and printing amended plans/additional information received in relation to current applications and re-notification of interested parties and consultees. Downloading and uploading planning applications received through the Planning Portal To undertake other duties relevant to the Technical Team s area of responsibilities as requested by the Team Leader or Development Manager. To provide support for other team tasks and Customer Service Team (including Reception cover) when appropriate. Health and Safety Comply with all Health and Safety legislation for your area of work, ensuring that risks are identified, managed and monitored as required. DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE Applications - 50 new submissions per week Applications - 25 amended submissions per week Neighbour letters 600 per week Telephone calls 50 per week AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY/PROBLEM SOLVING DECISION MAKING / SCOPE FOR IMPACT The nature of the work means that there can be no close supervision so you must be able to work accurately and be self-motivated. You will have to use your judgement when assessing and evaluating applications for validity and liaise directly with applicants to achieve the required standard of submissions. You will need to use Government legislation in forming these judgements (detailed training will be given). Achieving performance indicators is essential if the Service is to achieve its targets. /ORGANISING/CONTROLLING Providing information to a range of customers, both internal and external 2 P a g e
