2 COURSE DURATION: 4 day residential VENUE: The Briars, Bowral NSW PRICE: $4,900 BOOK NOW ENQUIRE NOW About the program The rapidly changing demands on public service managers requires you to not only know how to lead and to demonstrate leadership behaviours, but also to be a congruent and values-driven leader. Senior managers in the public sector are expected to have a robust knowledge of the public service context and challenges as well as demonstrate emotional intelligence, courage and authenticity when dealing with others. This program explores and addresses these and other issues in a practical and experiential way, providing opportunity for self-reflection through leadership-centric diagnostics. This well-established program has been refreshed and remodelled to reflect the nuances of the current public sector environment as well as contemporary public sector leadership development strategies. Being a program that intentionally addresses course participant needs, evaluations show that people find that this program transforms their specific way of being a leader and reinvigorates their career approach. The program takes a holistic approach starting with a broad overview of how the public sector is evolving and then moving through our roles as managers and leaders. It also covers the importance of emotional intelligence for workplace effectiveness; skills for leadership, authenticity and self-management; through to reflecting on career directions and a development plan for the future. The presenters provide a collegiate and supportive environment on the program, enabling participants to support each other and share experiences and learning. Who should attend The program is designed to build the capability and performance of experienced public service managers with responsibility for managing staff and achieving outcomes in a changing public service. The program is designed for participants drawn from a wide range of departments and agencies, this provides an environment of rich discussions and an effective setting for networking. 360 Feedback report 360 feedback is an important element of the program and is undertaken using the Executive Leadership Profile (ELP). The ELP is built upon an established public sector management competency framework and focuses on public sector-specific capabilities. 360 feedback, with its focus on comparing one s own views with others assessments of our performance and behaviour, lies at the very heart of management and leadership success.

Program Options This program can be delivered in a standard format or tailored for in-house delivery to meet particular organisational circumstances. We recommend the program be delivered away from the workplace where possible, to ensure participants are able to focus on the program content and professional development. While the program is usually delivered as a four day public program, it can be altered to meet the specific needs of Departments or Agencies.

4 Training Venues The program can be delivered on Departmental or Agency premises or at the Australian Institute of Management training facilities in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart and Brisbane.
