4 WOOD COUNTY SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION LIBRARY/MEDIA SPECIALIST TITLE: Library/Media Specialist QUALIFICATIONS: WV teaching certificate 3440 School Library/Media RESPONSIBLITIES: 1. Develops and administers an effective school library media program that aligns with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and is an integral part of the school s programming and instruction. 2. Catalogs and processes new books and equipment. 3. Check in and check out books, periodicals, and reference materials to staff and students. 4. Maintains circulation records for library books and reference materials. 5. Repairs, covers, and binds all damaged books. 6. Instructs students and staff in effective use of the library media center and equipment. 7. Empowers students to be enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. 8. Works with students in the development of media, computer, and writing skills. 9. Teaches information and technology literacy in conjunction with other staff. 10. Becomes familiar with curriculum in other subject areas. 11. Collaborates with teachers, curates resources, and helps integrate technology. 12. Screens, selects, orders, organizes, and circulates all types of instructional materials and equipment. 13. Plans, purchases, develops, and encourages selection of age/interest appropriate literary and media materials. 14. Coordinates special events and book fairs in the library. 15. 6 Qualifications: 1. Knowledge of the characteristics of adult learners and prior experience in delivering training and/or instruction to adult learners is preferred. 2. Experience in working with technology and using educational software is required. 3. Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) preferred. 4. Effective oral/written communication skills are required. 5. Experience with data management systems is preferred. 6. Knowledge of the Adult Education Information Management System preferred. 7. Ability to attend pre-service teacher training with an approved peer trainer (and travel to the meeting if necessary) prior to the start of any instructional activity is required. 8. Knowledge of the TASC Readiness Assessment (TRA) and Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) preferred. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Works cooperatively with Wood County s ABE Staff, other school personnel, business and industry, and with community and governmental agencies to offer a variety of educational services to meet the needs and interests of a highly diversified adult community. 2. Functions as a team leader of Adult Education programming and related instructional activities which may be offered by Wood County Schools or areas assigned by the Director or Coordinator of Adult Programs. 3. Administer/interpret appropriate instruments for registration, placement and needs assessment to determine skill levels and learner goals. 4. Conduct private student interviews to set reasonable goals and plan an individual program of study based on skill levels and personal/career goals. 5. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students. 6. Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request. 7. Manage multilevel classroom activities and provide instruction in a variety of ways (individual, pair-work, whole group, small group, computer-aided, tutorial, guest speakers, field trips, etc.) according to the learners needs. 8. Structure appropriate activities aligned to standards that teach principles, techniques or methods in subjects such as English language skills, mathematics, life skills, and workforce/employability skills. 9. Observe and evaluate students work to determine progress and make regular suggestions for improvement. 10. Reflectively review instructional content, methods, and student evaluations to assess strengths and weaknesses, and to develop recommendations for course revision, development, or elimination. 11. Apply accommodations for students with special learning needs. 12. Advise students on internships, prospective employers, and job placement services. 13. Make referrals for support services when appropriate (diagnosis of disabilities, vision, hearing; childcare and/or transportation assistance, etc.). 14. Maintain and submit applicable data/reports relating to student enrollment, progress, and completion (or termination) in a timely manner as required by county/state policy. 15. Maintain valid state certification (teaching certificate or adult license of ABE). 16. Participate in the minimum required Core and Elective professional development sessions per year depending on the number of hours per week of employment. 17. Attend professional meetings, conferences, and workshops to maintain and improve professional competence. 18. Write grants to obtain program funding. 19. Perform other duties related to the program as needed. 7 TITLE: Buyer/Auditor/Secretary III WOOD COUNTY SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION BUYER/AUDITOR/SECRETARY III QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High school diploma or GED. 2. Three years of purchasing or school finances. 3. Knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures for WV School Systems. 4. Broad knowledge of school accounting procedures for public schools in WV. 5. Hold or qualify for Auditor Classification according to WV Code. 6. Hold or qualify for Buyer Classification according to WV Code. 7. Hold or qualify for Secretary III Classification according to WV Code. 8. Ability to reason and do mathematic computations required in all areas of finance. 9. Proficiency in bookkeeping, typing and dictation. 10. Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the ability to operate office equipment and machines including computers. 11. Evaluations of past employment services may be taken into consideration in the hiring decision. REPORTS TO: Purchasing Director JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assists with audits of the accounts of individual schools and assist the school principal and school personnel in maintaining complete and accurate records of all school accounts. a) Prepare final schedules and exhibits to summarize audit findings and discuss the recommendations, changes, and exceptions with the school principal. b) Reconcile monthly financial data requirements as assigned. c) Maintains good working relationship with school administrative and finance team. 2. Review and write specifications, negotiate purchase bids and recommend purchase agreements for materials and services that meet predetermined specifications at the lowest available costs. a) Enter and/or review requisitions to ensure compliance with WVDE chart of accounts. b) Enter and/or review requisitions to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints. c) Assist school and other administrative personnel with the submission of requisitions. d) Maintain all purchasing files in accordance with departmental standards. 3. Assist with clerical duties, including but not limited to, answering and routing telephone calls, scanning and filing. 4. Maintains positive work habits. 5. Maintains and/or upgrades skills. 6. Performs duties efficiently and productively. 7. Observation of work hours. 8.
