In an English conversation, other people fluent in English are likely to misunderstand some things they say. UP TO 5.9 The majority of people with this score can communicate on familiar topics in informal conversations or discussions. Other people fluent in English may misunderstand some things they say. 6.0 UP TO 6.9 The majority of people with this score can communicate on familiar topics in conversations or discussions. Other people fluent in English may misunderstand some things they say. 7.0 UP TO 7.9 The majority of people with this score can participate in conversations and deliver presentations in English. Other people fluent in English are likely to understand them with a fair amount of effort. UP TO 8.9 The majority of people with this score can participate in conversations and discussions in English. Other people fluent in English are likely to understand them with some effort. 9.0 UP TO 10 People with this score can participate in complex conversations in English. In a conversation, other people fluent in English are likely to understand them with no effort at all This scorecard utilises the findings from the FluentIQ employability study, which provides data about the proficiency of a candidate s spoken language ability only. This speaking score therefore offers an indication of an individual s overall communicative competence, but it should not be interpreted as directly representative of individual scores in the domains of listening, reading, and writing. 8
