Market segments Land reclamation HAM 312 working at Palm Jumeirah in Dubai The overall growth in global population and migration towards coastal areas has created a huge demand for land reclamation. The dredging process removes sand, clay or rock from the seabed and these materials can then be used to create new land elsewhere. Cutter suction dredgers and trailing suction hopper dredgers are typically used for land reclamation projects, which can vary from the extension of a port or harbour, to the creation of offshore islands. Creating new land has been a specialty of The Netherlands for centuries. The knowledge accumulated by the Dutch nation has been put to good use for many different purposes all over the world. With more people and industry migrating to coastal areas, the pressure has gradually increased to the extent that land reclamation is perceived as a cost-effective answer to this ever-increasing challenge. Over the past decade, large reclamation projects have helped to expand such ports as Tanggu Port in China and Europort in The Netherlands. However, the most significant undertaking and perhaps the best example of what can be achieved is the famous Palm Jumeirah artificial archipelago in Dubai. Large volumes of sand have to be transported to complete such vast projects. The efficiency and reliability of IHC dredging vessels and equipment contribute to the most cost-efficient dredging solutions, or more specifically, the lowest cost per cubic metre. This has resulted in the design of jumbo and mega hoppers, such as the CONGO RIVER and VOX MÁXIMA. Furthermore, the creation of large cutter suction dredgers and the launch of the popular IHC 8527MP and IHC 7025MP series in China have resulted in an enormous increase in efficiency. In addition, the IHC Beagle 4 and 8 will be perfectly suited to this type of work due to their reduced draught. Offshore trenching The dredging of trenches and covering cables and pipelines for the offshore oil and gas industry are projects achieved with the help of IHC s trailing suction hopper dredgers. They are equipped with precise positioning instruments as well as dynamic positioning and tracking facilities. Trailing suction hopper dredgers, such as the CONGO RIVER, dig the trenches and transport the sand to the hopper via suction pipes. An offshore vessel then lays the pipe or cable The trailing suction hopper dredger CONGO RIVER used for offshore trenching into the trench, before the hopper deposits the sand over the pipe or cable. The depth of the excavation work is directly related to the length of the suction pipe. For example, the 23,700m 3 HAM 318 trailing suction hopper dredger is equipped with two suction pipes, each fitted with a submerged dredge pump, allowing dredging up to a depth of 101 metres. Coastal protection IHC Beaver 6518 at work off the coast of Italy Sand and gravel Gravel trailer VICTOR HORTA Coastal protection is an essential process to provide a defence against flooding and the erosion of land. It includes beach renourishment and dike construction, which both require the recovery and transportation of large volumes of sand. Changes to the environment have increased awareness of how vulnerable coastal areas are to the forces of nature. The influence of weather on daily life has increased significantly in recent years, especially in regions that are susceptible to erosion and flooding. These factors have led to the necessity of building better coastal protection, with such large-scale projects as the Delta Works in The Netherlands, the Venetian Lagoon in Italy and those surrounding New Orleans in the USA. Other smaller projects, such as regular beach renourishment, are also becoming more commonplace around the world. All of these projects have been made possible with dredging techniques that help to protect mankind against the threat of floods, rising sea levels and hurricanes. Dredging for sand and gravel at sea to supply the construction industry is becoming increasingly important. The global trend for the extraction of aggregates is increasingly under threat due to environmental restrictions and other considerations. In addition, the development of coastal areas involves large-scale building activities in which sand and gravel are essential assets. For applications on land, IHC delivers dedicated suction dredgers, but the process of dredging can also be executed at sea with specifically designed hopper dredgers. These vessels have adjustable hoppers, higher specific weights and dry excavation installations on board for such dredging jobs. A typical example is the VICTOR HORTA, which was designed specifically for the extraction of sand and gravel from the sea floor to supply the construction industry. The vessel s submersible dredge pump allows the extraction of sand and gravel from depths of 60 metres below sea level. 6 Royal IHC Dredging Dredging Royal IHC 7

Market segments Maintenance of ports and channels IHC Beaver 50 maintaining a channel The transportation of people and goods over water is a relatively inexpensive option, especially for bulk trade. The rising global population means there will be greater demand for safe, economic and sustainable logistics over the coming decades. The maintenance of ports, canals and waterways is therefore an important activity for IHC and its customers. As sufficient port capacity is vital for economic growth, the maintenance of ports and their approaches must provide a constant navigable water depth. This has to be maintained despite seasonal fluctuations and potentially extreme weather conditions. Channels are also utilised for directing river water from inland sources to the sea. The maintenance of the water depth in this case helps to protect river valleys from flooding. IHC cutter suction dredgers and trailing suction hopper dredgers are suitable for the maintenance of waterways, depending on the local conditions. They offer a cost-effective solution for such dredging projects. Port construction IHC Beaver 6518 at work in Mundra Port, India Grab pontoon IMTIAZ dredging polluted soil Environmental dredging After the signing of the Kyoto Protocol to battle global warming on an international scale, the world has become increasingly aware of the need to protect the planet. There are signs of a changing mentality in the dredging and other industries. This shift not only encompasses the type of soil being dredged, but also the design of the dredging equipment. Specific jobs are now targeted at cleaning up polluted materials in sections of ports and rivers within industrial areas. IHC manufactures specialist vessels for such projects that have been designed to remove contamination without harming the surrounding environment. With the trend towards increased environmental awareness, IHC has also taken on the challenge of developing clean and cost-effective dredging techniques to maintain water reservoirs and hydropower lakes. These environmental dredging projects require an in-depth knowledge, and by using its in-house research centre, IHC is at the forefront of creating new solutions to tackle such challenges. The expansion of global trade has led to an increase in maritime transport, along with the port facilities and access required to handle it. Many projects for the deepening of ports and access channels are combined with land reclamation projects. The use of dredged materials for port construction can also help to reduce the overall costs. Growing economies have one logistical characteristic in common: the expansion of their ports to meet the increasing trade volumes and size of the ships they cater for. Ports are an essential catalyst for economic growth and large infrastructure projects are being executed around the world to increase their capacities. The Indian Government, for example, has pinpointed a number of ports as the focal point for ongoing strategic development. These locations are now being expanded to compete with renowned ports in other parts of the world. The Maasvlakte II project in The Netherlands is another example of this development. Wherever these projects take place, IHC vessels are to be found at work thanks to the company s expertise in this sector. Port construction projects are generally more demanding than maintenance jobs. They can t be executed without such high-quality and diverse dredging equipment as cutter suction dredgers and trailing suction hopper dredgers. Standard vessels such as the IHC Beaver cutters and IHC Beagle hoppers are perfectly suited for this type of dredging work. For example, the ports of Mundra and Tanggu were built using standard IHC cutter suction dredgers. However, in most cases the contractor would require large high-powered cutters or large high-capacity hoppers. Whatever the requirement, IHC has the equipment to suit the scale and budget of any type and size of port construction project. 8 Royal IHC Dredging Dredging Royal IHC 9

Product groups VOX MÁXIMA Trailing suction hopper dredgers Integrated dredging solutions More than 100 years ago, IHC s Kinderdijk shipyard built the first trailing suction hopper dredger. High-quality equipment can be added at any time to match a customer s specific requirements and provide the best tools for the job. Evolutionary More than 150 years ago, Charles Darwin joined the expedition aboard the HMS Beagle. His five-year voyage took him all around the world and this enabled him to lay the scientific foundations for his most famous work on the origin of species. This new way of thinking deeply influenced the way the human race thought about its origins. While Darwin was the first to comprehensively conceive evolution as the way species develop, IHC s own IHC Beagle is evolutionary in its own right. Modular concept Over a century of dredging evolution and experience preceded the conception of the IHC Beagle a range of standard trailing suction hopper dredgers. This may be evidenced by the aesthetic design and proven technology, which makes this a typical high-quality IHC vessel. The IHC Beagle consists of a modular design, so it is possible to tailor each vessel to fit the specific dredging job in hand, while retaining its standard features. The basic version is ideal for general dredging projects, such as harbour maintenance, and can be ordered in 2,000, 4,000 and 8,000m³ variants. An IHC Beagle fitted with all available option packages is perfect for a broader range of dredging activities: capital dredging; shore pumping and rainbowing under the most challenging of conditions. Operational excellence The layout of the bridge has been optimised thanks to a new control desk concept. The new Intuitive Hopper Control Chair provides an excellent view of the hopper and dredge pipes as well as an easy-to-use touch screen with all of the relevant data and controls. The improved navigation control desk also allows a clear view of the ship s bow and improves the ease of operation. This is not only more comfortable for the crew, but also improves the dredger s safety and productivity. Track record With more than 100 years of experience in the design and build of trailing suction hopper dredgers, IHC is the market leader and renowned for its efficient, innovative and costeffective custom-built vessels. These ships have been used by the world s major dredging companies for such prestigious projects as the Suez Canal, Europort, Arabian Gulf ports and Palm Jumeirah. Building a dredger to fit a customer s expectations is a specialised and time-consuming process from the negotiations, design and build, to the delivery and beyond and it is one at which IHC excels. Versatility Manufactured at IHC s shipyards in The Netherlands, custombuilt trailing suction hopper dredgers operate in extreme conditions, at challenging depths and handle various types of soil. They can be found working on projects around the world, including harbour construction, channel maintenance, coastal protection, beach renourishment and land reclamation. Partnership As IHC works closely with its customers to ensure that its custom-built vessels meet their individual requirements, its overall aim is to develop long-term partnerships. A fine example of the excellent teamwork and cooperation that can be achieved by IHC and its customers is the highly efficient VOX MÁXIMA. With a hopper capacity of 31,200m³, this was the largest dredging vessel ever built in The Netherlands at the time of its launch in IHC had to overcome certain challenges to deliver the VOX MÁXIMA successfully. The principal design issue was the leap in scale over earlier vessels. The infrastructure around the Kinderdijk shipyard also had to be prepared for moving over 10,000 tonnes of steel. However, the launch, completion at the yard s quay, basin trials and final delivery to the customer were all on schedule. The 4,200m 3 ISANDLWANA also demonstrates IHC s capability of manufacturing custom-built trailing suction hopper dredgers. It is equipped with a 900mm-diameter starboard side-mounted suction pipe and is able to reach a dredging depth of 25 metres. Built for operation in the ports of South Africa, the vessel was designed to carry out dredging jobs in access channels, large harbour basins and confined areas. A high level of manoeuvrability has been created by means of the installation of controllable pitch propellers and an additional electrically driven bow thruster. The successful delivery of these vessels shows what can be achieved by close cooperation between IHC and its customers. Both the ISANDLWANA and VOX MÁXIMA are now performing the tasks they were designed to complete, and the partnerships established between IHC and their owners will continue throughout their life cycles. 12 Royal IHC Dredging Dredging Royal IHC 13

Trailing suction hopper dredgers IHC Systems Integrated bridge control CRESTWAY IHC Parts & Services Curve impeller Custom-built CHANG JIANG KOU 01 TSHD equipment TSHD parts include cylinders, overflows, bottom doors and valves Complex state-of-the-art technology IHC s trailing suction hopper dredgers are designed and built for specific projects and conditions with the market-leading technology for which the company is renowned and guarantees. The SHOREWAY and CRESTWAY are 97.5-metre, medium-sized 5,600m³ hoppers that have been built for Boskalis. The duplicates are ideal for working in shallow waters and the maintenance of ports, coastal protection and land reclamation projects. The SHOREWAY and CRESTWAY combine a no-nonsense design approach with a high level of versatility. During the design process, the emphasis was placed on keeping the weight of the vessel relatively low, while maximising the capacity of the hopper. Another technologically advanced trailing suction hopper dredger is the 11,650m³ BREUGHEL, which materialised as a result of close cooperation between IHC and its customer. The design was based on the trailing suction hopper dredgers, BRABO and BREYDEL, delivered by IHC in 2007 and 2008 respectively. The limited draught, combined with large width, ensures that the BREUGHEL can be used in conditions where other ships in this class would be restricted. Reliable Further examples of reliable IHC custom-built trailing suction hopper dredgers include: the CHANG JIANG KOU 01 and 02, built in The Netherlands and China respectively for the Yangtze Estuary Waterway Administration Bureau MOT; the DCI DREDGE XIX, XX and XXI built for Dredging Corporation India Ltd and the WILLEM VAN ORANJE, built in close cooperation with Boskalis. The CHANG JIANG KOU 01 and 02 have been specifically designed with the high-current velocity and soil properties of the Yangtze River in mind. This is one of the reasons why they have been equipped with the patented IHC Wild Dragon draghead for carrying out maintenance dredging jobs over a distance of 122 kilometres. The DCI DREDGE XIX, XX and XXI are deployed for the maintenance dredging project on the Hooghly River in India, which is a tributary of the Ganges River in West Bengal. These vessels are specially designed for this task, taking into account the Hooghly River s soil properties, strong current and shallow depth. A characteristic feature of the WILLEM VAN ORANJE s design is the twin-hopper concept with a combined capacity of 12,000m³. This concept makes it possible to optimise the load of the ship in relation to the draught, particularly in relatively shallow waters. Efficient With specialist knowledge and vast experience of trailing suction hopper dredgers, IHC sets the standard that others follow. These vessels are the benchmark for efficiency, advanced technology and value for money across the broadest possible spectrum of dredging projects. This gives customers the confidence to know that the integrated solution they receive from IHC will provide them with a profitable opportunity to maximise the return on their investment. The advanced equipment integrated within IHC s trailing suction hopper dredgers delivers a range of benefits to its global customer base, including higher productivity, reduced operating costs, optimum efficiency and minimal downtime. They also contribute to the profitability of each international dredging project that uses the company s innovative vessels. The optimised design of the IHC dredgers demonstrates less environmental impact. Dragheads The draghead channels the dredged material to the suction inlet and excavates all types of soil, from silt to compact sand and gravel. Draghead development has resulted in active soil excavation (by the draghead) either with water or with ripper teeth. IHC is actively researching draghead excavation properties. Suction pipes The suction pipe transports the dredge mixture to the hopper and transfers the trailing forces from the draghead to the ship. Their hinged construction, together with swell compensation, ensures optimal contact between the draghead and the sea floor. Valves Gate and process valves are necessary for the control of the flow of mixture on trailing suction hopper dredgers. Gate valves are essential for reliable and effective flow control. Process valves ensure safe and continuous operation, reducing the risk of damage to other components. Dredge pumps IHC vessels can be equipped with a complete range of dredge pumps, available in different series. All pump series are available as: single or double-walled; inboard or submerged. Inboard dredge pumps are the primary power source for transporting the mixture to the hopper or discharge location. The dredge pumps are also essential for mixture transport in stationary dredgers and at pipeline booster stations. Submerged dredge pumps are located in the suction pipe and help to transport the mixture cost effectively from greater depths. Most submerged dredge pumps are driven directly by a submerged electric motor. IHC customers can choose from conventional or high-efficiency pumps. The design is continuously being optimised to upgrade pump production and suction characteristics, and reduce wear. Furthermore, the wear rate of dredge pumps can also be reduced by the Curve impeller, an innovative solution created by IHC Parts & Services for high-efficiency pumps. This new type of pump impeller is fitted with specially curved blades designed to improve the suction characteristics of a dredge pump. Integrated bridge control IHC Systems integrated bridge completely automates dredging operations and combines them with sailing functions. This enables a single navigator to completely manage a trailing suction hopper dredger, a job which is usually carried out by several people. 14 Royal IHC Dredging Dredging Royal IHC 15

Cutter suction dredgers IHC Hytop Hydraulic installation IHC Drives & Automation Variable frequency drive for submerged pumps Self-propelled ARTEMIS CSD equipment IHC Parts & Services Cutter Special Pump IHC also supplies self-propelled cutter suction dredgers that can be used for major reclamation projects and port construction work. These vessels move from project to project throughout the world without the need of an accompanying transportation ship. The most renowned examples are the ATHENA, her sister vessel ARTEMIS and the D ARTAGNAN. The ATHENA and ARTEMIS, are self-propelled cutter suction dredgers, built with a new design philosophy that features upgraded barge-loading and flexible spud systems, allowing for operations in rougher weather. While the D ARTAGNAN had its bow on the side of the cutterladder, the ATHENA s bow is on the side of the spud poles. Versatility Self-propelled cutter suction dredgers are specially equipped for working with different soil types. They have maximal operating flexibility and can be used for major reclamation projects and construction work. Such versatility is due in part to the vessels wide-ranging characteristics. These include varying discharge distances and dredging depths, and the ability to operate in extreme temperatures. High levels of autonomy and self-propulsion also contribute to their flexibility, because they have minimal dependency on local facilities. Maximised production The dimensions of self-propelled cutter suction dredgers can be determined to improve the vessel s performance in swell. They are also designed with a large pump capacity to reduce costs per cubic metre. Self-propelled cutter suction dredgers can be fitted with high levels of automation, including a combined navigation/dredging console and sophisticated dredging automation and cutter control to maximise production. Environmentally friendly Lubrication is reduced to an absolute minimum on self-propelled cutter suction dredgers, such as the ATHENA, which means they are also environmentally friendly. The significant sustainable innovation on this vessel is found in the cutter ladder, as all cutter shaft bearings are fully water lubricated. Large pump capacity The ATHENA is notable for other reasons too. It is one of the world s most powerful self-propelled cutter suction dredgers, with a total installed power of 24,700kW, a length of more than 130 metres and a maximum dredging depth of 25 metres. It was designed and built with one clear goal: to optimise the efficiency of production. Equipped with the latest dredging technology suitable for working in hard soil it is also one of the three largest cutter suction dredgers in the world. Many of the world s major dredging corporations rely on IHC equipment to move material from the riverbed or ocean floor and transport it to their vessels, and ultimately the dumping site. IHC focuses on the in-house development, manufacture and delivery of the cutter suction dredger installation s key components. These include: equipment for excavation work or the hydraulic transportation of materials; hydraulic equipment; drive equipment, such as variable frequency drives and permanent magnet motors; and automation equipment for electronic control of vessels to operate even more safely and productively. The advanced equipment integrated within IHC s cutter suction dredgers delivers a range of benefits to its global customer base. Higher productivity and reduced operating costs, as well as optimum efficiency and minimal downtime, contribute to the profitability of each international dredging project using the company s innovative vessels. Cutterhead A good example is IHC s cutterhead. This is integrated within vessels to deliver high productivity and minimal downtime thanks to the profile, spacing and size of the arm, as well as the location and orientation of the teeth. The latest innovation in cutterheads is the Lancelot. In loose compacted soil, it makes better use of the available power, resulting in a higher output of dredged material thanks to its cylindrical shape and availability of more arms. Cutter Special Pump The recently developed Cutter Special Pump is an example of IHC s innovative capabilities. The highly efficient doublewalled pump is specially designed for applications on heavy duty cutter suction dredgers, which often extract material containing large particles that must pass through the pump. In comparison with conventional dredge pumps, it has a larger ball passage to prevent pump blockage, while still offering high efficiency and good suction performance. Variable frequency drive IHC focuses on the development of medium-voltage drives in order to cope with ever-increasing electrical power requirements. This preserves the unique beneficial features of the low-voltage variable frequency drives. Flexible spud carrier Strong winds and high waves can create problems for cutter suction dredgers. The waves can exert enormous pressure on the spud that holds the dredger to the seabed, straining the spud or even breaking it. Heavy seas can force the dredger to stop working. A flexible spud carrier, with its specially designed hydraulic system, can help to solve this problem. When stresses due to the motion of the waves are too high, these special spud carriers prevent the spuds from breaking preventing damage and downtime. 20 Royal IHC Dredging Dredging Royal IHC 21

Product groups Auxiliary vessels and equipment IHC Parts & Services Floating dredge line components IHC Parts & Services IHC TT Pump IHC Beaver Dredgers Delta Multi Craft 1050 Split hopper PAGADDER KINGSTOWN IHC can supply a wide range of auxiliary vessels and equipment, which are required to transport dredged material to the final placement site, assist the dredger or increase its overall production rate. Among these are the Delta Multi Craft work boat, one of the most versatile auxiliary vessels, and the IHC TT Pump, a perfect example of equipment used to increase efficiency and improve performance. Split hoppers Split hoppers are supplied to customers for seagoing and inland use. The ease and speed of dumping makes this ship very attractive for use in combination with backhoe dredgers, cutter suction dredgers or grab hopper dredgers. The standard self-propelled vessels range from 800 to 3,500m 3 in size. Furthermore, IHC is working on the delivery of larger vessels up to 10,000m 3 in the future. Alternatively, IHC can supply building kits and support packages that include hardware components. Work boats IHC s range of work boats, the Delta Multi Craft (DMC), are engineered and built to display properties that complement the cutter suction dredger they are designed to offer services to. This means they are guaranteed to be able to tow the dredger, lift the pump casing and cutter. They can team up with all types of dredgers and improve operational efficiency. They are fully developed work platforms, and although not particularly large, they are cleverly engineered. The DMC can pick up and put a load on its own deck something that a tug or crew vessel cannot do. This makes them suitable for other jobs too, such as lifting pipelines from the water or shifting anchors. The DMC s rectangular hulls are designed for stability, a large working area and favourable draught. The boats have two push bows and the sterns have been shaped to maximise beaching capability without damage to propellers and rudders. Fixed pitch propellers in nozzles provide efficient bollard pull and excellent manoeuvrability. IHC TT Pump The IHC TT Pump dredging unit has been specifically developed for use in small-scale dredging projects, including maintenance activities, as well as environmental projects, loading and unloading hopper barges and mining activities. The unit can be used on a crane, with an A-frame or combined with an excavator connector. The IHC TT Pump dredging unit is provided as a complete package, allowing the user to start work immediately. The unit has been used successfully in routine dredging operations and in various civil engineering projects. Customers can select the most suitable configuration for the scale of their dredging projects. The IHC TT Pump has undergone a technical overhaul, and is now even more durable, maintenance friendly and efficient in terms of mobility and operational use. Floating dredge line components IHC Parts & Services provides a range of high-performance floating discharge lines, rubber hoses, ball joints and booster pumps for overboard slurry transport. Floating discharge hoses are required for slurry transport to the shore. Depending on the environmental circumstances, a combination of several types of discharge hoses and pipes is necessary for the discharge process. Floating pipelines are a cost-effective solution, as worn-out pieces of pipe can easily be changed by pulling the rubber floater over a new piece of pipe. The steel pipe, however, makes this floating line less flexible and reduces its effectiveness in rough seas. Therefore, these pipes must be used in combination with floating hoses, which are a more flexible and yet extremely robust solution for discharging slurry to the shore. Rubber hoses without buoyancy for example, pressure hoses or IHC BoneCrusher discharge hoses can be part of a floating line arrangement, such as flexible land and vessel connection or with extra flexibility in the discharge line. Customised arrangements are made for all particular circumstances by means of a simulation programme that shows the movements of the discharge line and calculates the required configurations. Ball joints provide a flexible load-bearing connection between sections of a pipeline. The principle field of application is in floating lines, with sections supported by pontoons or other means of buoyancy. The ball joints ensure a flexible connection of the different pipe sections and they are capable of transmitting high loads from one section to another. In addition to the use in floating pipelines, ball joints can also be used for swan-neck bends in suction and discharge pipelines. In case the pump on the dredging vessel is not strong enough for extra-long floating line arrangements, IHC also provides booster pumps for additional power to transport the slurry quickly and efficiently to the discharge location. Booster stations Adding extra pumping power can significantly help improve production levels when pumping over longer distances. This can be achieved with the use of a booster station a separate additional pump placed along the discharge line. The correct combination of the engine and pump is essential when choosing a booster station. Boosters can significantly improve productivity over longer pumping distances and can be delivered for smaller standard dredgers, as well as larger custom-built vessels. 22 Royal IHC Dredging Dredging Royal IHC 23

Product groups Rental and financial services ALBERTO ALEMÁN ZUBIETA DOHUK Mechanical dredgers Backhoe dredger Grab hopper dredger IHC BEAVER 40 IHC s expertise is reflected by the flexible solutions and innovations that are inherent within its range of mechanical dredgers. The backhoe and grab hopper dredgers can be built in The Netherlands or at local yards depending on specification, budget and delivery time required. Although designed and built according to customer specifications, IHC s mechanical dredgers share a number of common characteristics, which are responsible for their success. Firstly, they are designed to achieve the specified production level, in a wide range of soil and environmental conditions. As a consequence, soil, sea and other conditions are taken fully into account from the earliest design stage. Secondly, they are economical to operate. Building mechanical dredgers at local shipyards reduces labour costs and keeps the investment relatively low. It ensures that the final product meets the specification of the contract at a competitive price and using local equipment suppliers. Life-cycle costs are also minimised by the smart design. Backhoe dredgers Backhoe dredgers are stationary vessels that can be used for a wide range of marine operations. They consist of two components: an excavator and a pontoon that can be lifted high enough out of the water for the dredger to be firmly rooted to the ground. The pontoon is equipped with three spuds for positioning and lifting the backhoe dredger. These features mean they are able to work with extreme accuracy for trenching and working close to solid structures in sand, compact clay and rock. Backhoe dredgers can be equipped with advanced equipment such as: the IHC Hydrohammer used as a rock breaker; and the IHC TT Pump, specifically developed for use in small-scale dredging projects, including maintenance activities, as well as environmental projects, loading and unloading hopper barges, and mining activities. IHC supplies a range of stationary standard backhoe dredgers, fitted with Liebherr excavators and fully adapted for continuous use in maritime environments. It can also deliver custom-built vessels, such as the ALBERTO ALEMÁN ZUBIETA, which has been designed and built using the latest technological developments. Grab hopper dredgers Grab hopper dredgers are generally used for maintenance dredging and in particular small-scale applications for port authorities responsible for maintaining smaller national ports. These dredgers are important for their multipurpose characteristics and capability of being operated independently. Mechanical dredgers share a number of common features, such as being economical to operate and designed to achieve the specified production level. An example of a grab hopper dredger is the DOHUK, which has been functionally equipped and solidly built, with much attention paid to low maintenance costs. IHC customers therefore have a variety of options to choose from in the mechanical dredgers category. No other shipbuilder offers such a complete package of vessels for the dredging industry. Rental services IHC supplies the international rental market with vessels and equipment, such as its standard IHC Beaver dredgers, IHC Beagle hopper dredgers, Delta Multi Craft work boats and IHC TT Pump Dredging Units. The nature of some dredging projects requires the deployment of specific dredgers and equipment for a limited time frame. This could be because the dredging project is relatively small or an additional dredger is only required at a particular point in the project. In such cases, the expansion of the dredging fleet on a temporary basis through IHC s rental services is an attractive option because it offers a number of benefits. It is possible to hire an IHC Beaver or IHC Beagle for a relatively short period. This ensures that the vessel in use is the most efficient and suitable model for each phase of a project. The vessels are either new or ready to start work immediately, which results in a high rate of productivity. When customers choose to rent vessels from IHC, they can also rely on the group s extensive life-cycle support facilities. This means operators can access commissioning services and hands-on training, as well as the full technical support of engineers and dredging consultants. Another advantage of renting IHC vessels or equipment is that it does not require any large capital investment and therefore spreads the financial risk. Furthermore, there is no need to pay maintenance or repair costs and the option exists to buy the vessel or equipment after the lease period. These benefits are important at a time when every euro counts. Financial services In the past few years, IHC s added value for the financial aspects of investing in vessels has become increasingly important. The company provides assistance with the financing of the construction period, and the post-delivery financing, currency and other financial matters. IHC has specialised in bespoke and wide-ranging solutions that provide optimum support to its customers business models and financial performance. Customers can also choose from a broad portfolio of financial products and work directly with IHC s team of experts to find the most appropriate long- or short-term solution. These arrangements are derived from an impressive track record in this field and a healthy company balance sheet. 24 Royal IHC Dredging Dredging Royal IHC 25

IHC Life-cycle support Your performance is our challenge Spare parts availability service Dredging Advisory Services TID simulator training Dredger modifications performed on site IHC customers rely on the unrivalled level of commitment that is offered to them through dedicated and comprehensive life-cycle support services. These help to maximise the equipment s availability and the return on investment, and therefore reduces the total cost of ownership. The cycle can be entered at any of its five integrated stages. Design The design phase encompasses the entire trajectory, from the first point of contact about a potential dredging, mining or offshore challenge, to the last drawing or calculation, directed to offer a practical solution. Maintain At this stage, the aim is to optimise the system s availability in a cost-effective manner. This is achieved by intelligently maintaining its technical functionality with regard to prevailing operational circumstances and by a quick response in the event of an unexpected technical defect. Upgrade This stage facilitates several options for the necessary overhaul and/or replacement of major or structural systems and subsystems. These are based on economic considerations, continuing compliance to regulations or changing operational requirements. The technology innovator s highly qualified experts design and build innovative vessels and advanced equipment based on their vast worldwide experience of the dredging, mining and offshore industries. The company offers a complete spectrum of high-quality and up-to-date services to ensure that crews operate in a highly skilled and efficient manner to achieve optimum levels of productivity. IHC life-cycle support also allows operators to maintain the durability and reliability of their systems through a range of specialist services. Furthermore, an upgrade by means of renovation, modification or update of the existing systems, components and/or software can extend the working life of the vessel and equipment. With the expertise to research, engineer and install to the highest possible standard, the IHC team will also utilise complex processes, knowledge and experience to maintain the correct and safe operation of all its products on board. Build Irrespective of the actual location, the building stage integrates the procurement, manufacturing, commissioning and testing of the vessels and equipment s hardware and software. Their future utilisation and operational efficiency are enhanced and ensured by the life-cycle support services. Examples of the services are project management, works and site supervision, commissioning and technical support. These services improve the quality, sustainability, durability, ease of maintenance, compliance to regulations, and awareness of systems and operations. Depending on the type of equipment and/or contract, they are partly or wholly integrated in the scope of delivery, but they can also be offered separately to customers worldwide. Operate The operational stage of a system either embraces the period from the day of delivery of vessels and/or equipment until its functional withdrawal, or a full lease/rental period. During this trajectory, the aim is to preserve the system s vital functionality and efficiency under prevailing or changing operational conditions. 26 Royal IHC Dredging Dredging Royal IHC 27
