1 Work Instructions [] Date: June 16, 2008 Scope: The purpose of this document is to provide detailed instructions on how to replenish kanban parts for the 01, 94, and HD assembly lines. parts relate to the concept of Just In Time (JIT) delivery; as parts are utilized on the line new parts replenish the old ones. Equipment: WMS Scanner, Push Cart, Gloves, Safety Glasses, Box Cutter, Steel Toe Boots, Pen or Pencil, and Paper General Requirements: Employee is familiar with Leeds Ave building layout and CTT warehouse location Employee is familiar with location of assembly lines, operating stations, and buffer rack locations Employee is a certified forklift operator and has completed all safety training Employee is familiar with shop floor and safety precautions Employee is familiar with WMS scanner and ordering system Employee is familiar with FIFO and how to load bins and buffer racks 1) scanners are located in the warehouse office in the office in the back. 2) Take a kanban scanner from charging base. 2 Work Instructions [] Date: June 16, ) The log-in screen will be showing. Enter the username (bbear) and password (bbear). NOTE: The scanners are touch screen. You can either use the stylus pen attached to the handle or your finger to move the cursor on the screen. See Figure 2 Username: bbear Password: bbear 4) If after correctly entering the username and password 3 times, and Invalid Username/Password is showing on the top of the screen, the connection to the server must be checked. If able to sign on, skip to step 10. 5) Touch the Start window on the top left of the screen. A dropdown menu will appear. 3 Work Instructions [] Date: June 16, ) A Cummins internet explorer screen will come up with a username and password lines. If the CTT website does not appear, enter in the website The guest network will appear and Enter the username (chslguest01) and password (guest01), then touch connect. 8) Go to the top right corner of the screen and click the x to close and go back to the Linc Handheld sign on screen. Repeat step 3. 9) After signing on, click the arrow for a dropdown menu to select your line. There are 3 assembly lines to choose from MR-01, MR-94, and HD-00. NOTE: A Linc supervisor will assign the line you will be stocking. See Figure 4 Touch here Select one MR-94 Line KANBAN 10) For 94 line (blue bins), you do not need to walk the 94 assembly line and look for empty bins, your only responsibility is to keep buffer racks A, B, C, and D inside/outside full. CTT assembly line associates are responsible for keeping their operating stations stocked and they will place the empty bins in the wire bin located to the right of buffer rack C when they pull parts for their operating station. Grab the empty blue bins from the wire bin located to the right of buffer rack C. See Figure 5 and 6 Page 3 of 9 Printed: 4/3/2009

4 WI-47 Oakland Logistics Charleston SC Work Instructions [] Version: 1.0 Date: June 16, 2008 RACK C Wire Rack 11) With the scanner line selected, scan the bar code on the empty bin to add that part to the kanban order to place an order. See Figure 7 Scan here 12) After the empty bin is scanned place it on your push cart to be replenished later when the order arrives from the Linc warehosue. Note: Not every part is packed in a bin and therefore the location must be scanned. MR-01 Line KANBAN 14) For the 01 line, (blue bins), you must walk the line with your cart and collect the empty bins from the CTT assembly line. On the line, the bins will be placed on top of designated racking by CTT assembly line operators. Scan the barcodes on the bins as you collect them. See Figure 9 Page 5 of 9 Printed: 4/3/2009

6 Work Instructions [] Date: June 16, ) After you have walked the 01 line and checked the work station racks you must also check the buffer racks for this line. If there is no bin in a rack location, scan the empty bar coded location. Repeat for all empty spots. Note: Not every part is packed in a bin and therefore the location must be scanned. See Figure 10 Scan here 16) For 01 line kanban, all parts for production will be located in the buffer racks. Replenish the line by replacing the empty bin that was taken from the operation station and pull from the 01 line buffer racks A or B. See Figure 11 Page 6 of 9 Printed: 4/3/2009

7 WI-47 Oakland Logistics Charleston SC Work Instructions [] Version: 1.0 Date: June 16, 2008 HD-00 Line KANBAN 17) For the HD line, (cream bins), you must walk the line with your cart and collect the empty bins from the CTT assembly line. On the line, the bins will be placed on top of designated racking by CTT assembly line operators. Since there is only 1 buffer rack for the HD line (rack A) there will be at least 3 bins for each part on the line location. When an empty bin is found scan the barcode to place the order and place the empty bin on your push cart.see Figure 12 18) After you have walked the HD line and checked the work station racks you must also check the buffer rack for this line. If there is no bin in a rack location, scan the empty bar coded location. Repeat for all empty spots. Note: Not every part is packed in a bin and therefore the location must be scanned. Restocking the bins 19) When an empty bin or buffer rack location is scanned it places an order thru the Linc WMS. Material typically takes 4 hours to arrive and is identified by assembly line on the placard. See Figure 13 Page 7 of 9 Printed: 4/3/2009

8 Work Instructions [] Date: June 16, ) When material arrives it is either destined for an empty bin or an empty spot on the buffer rack. If material is destined for an empty bin cut the VCI bag open and dump the material into the bin with the matching part number. The empty bin will be located on your push cart. If you do not have an empty bin the part should be placed onto the buffer rack in its supplier provided packaging. Each part has a separate location on the assembly line or in the buffer rack. See Figures 14 & 15 21) If the scanner used to place your order is not functioning properly please use a pen and paper to write down the part # and number of bins needed to fill. Take the manual order you have created to a CTT warehouse associate or Linc supervisor. Page 8 of 9 Printed: 4/3/2009
