3 3 Scope of the project Development of: Technical and functional requirements of in LD vehicles A complete physical test procedure (for chassis dynamometer testing) Expected final result: regulatory technical text which can be annexed to implementing legislation. Starting point: the paper that was published for the Dutch draft requirements, however the work will not be limited by this paper.

6 6 Task 110: Definition of requirement based on available sources Definition of the requirements for in LD vehicles close collaboration with stakeholders literature review into the currently available experiences with in-car devices Starting point: Dutch paper published for draft requirements requirements should at least cover: Functional requirements (display, presentation, visualization, etc.) Technical requirements (reliability, accuracy) The requirements shall be practically applicable, supportive for fuel consumption improvement by the driver, based on acceptance by drivers, technically feasible, verifiable in a physical type approval procedure and, not decreasing the safety.

7 7 Input For setting the functional requirements, the following will be taken into account: Input from stakeholders Human-machine interaction (in-house specialists at TNO) Literature Safety issues Input expected from stakeholders (beginning by sending a questionnaire right after this meeting) Experience with systems Current state of technology Technically feasible accuracies of In-use data on the effect of on fuel consumption and driving behaviour Characteristics and accuracy of an which can lead to FC benefits Data collection and communication: Questionnaires (to be distributed after the kick-off meeting) Interviews (phone, face-to-face meetings) Overview of the collected data and discussion (in the next meeting)

8 8 Task 120: Evaluation of technically feasible accuracies Evaluation of up to three systems on the chassis dynamometer Vehicles equipped with different NEDC, WLTP and real world driving cycles Visual recording of the visual signal of the visual indication will be transcripted to data using imagine processing Comparison of signal vs. in laboratory fuel consumption measurement The evaluation is also expected to deliver insights into the verifiability of the requirements during a physical test procedure
