7 Texas Freight Network Outlines the freight-centric transportation facilities that allow for efficient movement of goods and emphasize strategic freight corridors. Identifies key assets that move the bulk of goods in Texas and is a pillar for freight transportation. Comprised of: Primary Freight Highway Network: Nearly 6,400 miles of highways and is projected to carry more than 10 million tons by Secondary Freight Highway Network/Emerging Freight Corridors: Over 13,400 miles of highways, provides connections to rural areas and energy sector corridors Major seaports, the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, major airports and both class I and short line railroads. Focuses the Freight Plan and guide future freight transportation investments for safe, efficient and reliable goods movement. 7
