6 LaseSCP-3D - Stack Collision Prevention - 3D Product module CEWS Container Logistics This intelligent and innovative solution is built to diminish the risk of collisions and accidents in container stacking areas. The measurement system by LASE is applicable for topography detection and collision prevention at RTGs and RMGs cranes. Customer Benefits & Features: The three-dimensional solution of the safety application LaseSCP-3D - Stack Collision Prevention is a measurement system which works with two 3D laser scanners which are mounted under the trolley. In order to measure all relevant stacks a 3D profile scan in trolley direction will be processed before the first move. An additional 3D scan will be done after the trolley has passed the highest point of the stack in order to detect shadow areas. A further collision prevention check by the intelligent surveillance cube has the function to avoid collisions between the empty spreader or container on the spreader and containers in the stacking area. The position (cube center) is located at the center of the spreader. The expansion of the cube is depending on the adjusted length of the spreader (20, 40, 45 ), height of container on the spreader, moving direction and the velocity of trolley and hoist. An application software collects the scan data, performs all needed calculations and sends the results to the PLC of the machine. For the collision prevention function the distance between the outer edges of the spreader/container combination and the outer edges of the containers in the stack (profile) will be calculated for each incoming scan. If the distance becomes too small, the LaseSCP application generates a warning message to the PLC. The topography of the stacks is also measured permanently. Due to these received topographical information time- and path- optimized driving cycles can be calculated for further crane movements. Function principle

Both 3D-Units are installed at a distance of approximately 2,9 metres on the trolley of an automatic stacking crane in order to measure containers, trailers or AGVs threedimensionally. 10 LaseCDI-STS - Container Damage Inspection Product module CEWS Container Logistics The new LASE 3000D-22x laser scanners are the most suitable laser for this kind of surface inspection because of their excellent sensor criteria, consisting of a very small spot size, a high angle resolution in the 2D-scan direction and a very fine swivel angle resolution. The measurement system includes 2D laser scanners (LASE 2000D Series) and two 3D components (LASE 3000D Series) to accomodate different mounting positions determined by the site and nature of operation. During the vertical movement of the container a horizontal scan plane is emitted and measures a 2D profile of the container sides. After being dropped on the ground a further 3D-profile of the container roof will be scanned as well. In the application software the deformation cases are predefined. By comparing an ideal container with the actual container, damages will be recognized automatically and displayed to the operator. Function principle

This measurement system allows the container surfaces to be inspected without any delays when passing through the gate. Out of the scan data the LASE software application generates an intelligent 3D profile and determines whether the container is damaged or not. The deformation cases are predefined within the application software. The automatic recognition of the damage is achieved by comparing the actual container to an ideal one and combining the results. 12 LaseTDS - Twistlock Detection System Product module CEWS Container Logistics The features of this intelligent and innovative solution allow an accelerated and fully automatic container handling as well as a gentle treatment of the materials through highly accurate soft landings on the trailers. Precise twist lock detection on the trailer Handling of up to 6 lanes per transfer area Calculation of the center position and skew Obstacle and error recognition Results processed to ASC control system Efficiency improvement in shore-based areas Savings in labor costs At this measuring system a 3D-Laser scanner from the product range of the LASE3000D-Series is installed on a steel pylon (height: approx. 6 m) and is located between two transfer lanes of the shorebased transfer area. In a transfer area with a size of for example six lanes, three 3D-Laser scanners are required. The laser scanners are connected via an Ethernet-interface with a appropriate LASE Control Unit (LCU) which operates with the application software LASE CEWS Basic and a specific LaseTDS software. Then the measuring results for the unloading position are communicated to the ASC control. Function principle

The LASE 3000D are installed on both sides of the cranes transversal girder and the scenery in the portal can be measured 3-dimensionally. The position of the trucks, trailers, AGVs or containers on the vehicles as well as on the ground can be determined. This system is particularly important for double hoist/ spreader operations otherwise the crane driver needs considerably more time to get the spreader on the container. The LaseTPC (Truck Positioning Crane) measurement system is primarily designed for STS container cranes and serves both to increase the safety of the stevedores and an efficient workflow in container handling. The specific software application collects the scan data, does all necessary calculations and sends the results to the PLC. The laser scanners look downwards with a scan plane across two bays. When the trolley starts driving over the vessel, the measurement system generates a 2D-profile of the stacks within the bays. Additionally the spreader is in the view of the scanners. By comparing the actual load position (spreader with/without container) with the profile of the stacks a collision prevention is ensured. The LaseCPV (Container Profiling Vessel) measurement system is primarily designed for STS crane operations and serves both to increase the safety and an efficient workflow in container handling. 15 LaseTLP - Truck Lifting Prevention Product module CEWS Container Logistics This intelligent and innovative solution is built to avoid severe accidents during truck unloading by defectice or locked twistlock latches. The measurement system by LASE is applied for RTG, RMG, ARMG and STS cranes and prevents that trucks/trailers are lifted into the air. High system realibility without false alarms Applicable for all truck-trailer types Accurate gap measurement between trailer and container Prevention of severe accidents Time-efficient process optimisation Damage avoidance at container and chassis Less wear Easily adaptable also for retrofitting Sometimes it might occur that truck-trailers are lifted up by the crane hoist when one or more twistlocks are still locked or not completely loosened. In order to prevent such accidents a system is required to detect the lifting of the trailer early enough. The measurement system consists of one or two LASE 2000D laser scanners which are mounted at the gantry of the crane with vertical scan planes aligned towards the truck lane. The scanner(s) measure the gap between the lifted container and trailer and compare the position of the container and the trailer structure. In case that both objects (container & trailer) move upwards parallely, the system generates an alarm signal to stop the hoist movement before any damage or injury can occur. Furthermore the system is on the one hand very sensitive (reacts fast in case of lifting) and on the other hand it eliminates false alarms - both make it to a reliable and accepted system by the port operators. 16 LASE 3000D-Series 3D Laser scanners - Hardware components The high performance laser scanners out of the LASE 3000D-Series are particularly designed for industrial applications with the background to create a robust, modular and economic 3D-Laser measurement system. A 3D Laser scanner is a mechanical swivel platform on which a 2-dimensional laser scanner is assembled for measuring tasks. The platform has a swivel table, which can be turned by a servo motor (swivel mode). A high resolution encoder which is integrated in the servo motor, measures the exact turning angle of the swivel table simultaneously. By the assignment of the 2D laser scan data with the encoder values (turning angle), the contactless entry of 3-dimensional measuring data can be handled. JUNE 2015 With its large measuring range, unrestricted scan angle and high angular resolution the LASE 3000D-C4-1xx Series is suitable for a huge variety of industries and applications such as: Measurement of dimensions, profiles or levels of objects and environments Object positioning Container recognition/measurement in ports Support of crane open-loop controls by goods detection Object protection Bulk material measurement at heaps, piles, bunkers or trucks The laser scanners out of the LASE 3000D-C4-1xx Series are threedimensional measurement devices which are especially built for measurements in harsh industrial environments and for numerous outdoor purposes. The high performance 3D laser scanners from the product range of the LASE 3000D Series are based on the components of a 2D laser scanner out of the LASE 2000D-11x-Series and a swiveling platform which is powered by a servo-drive. A high resolution encoder on the servo-drive measures the angle of rotation of the platform and by connection of the 2D laser data with the encoder data, high precision 3D profile measurements are produced. Optionally LASE can provide sophisticated software either to control and collect data from the laser scanner or for complete measurement solutions.
