1 e-hardcopy 2.0 Automated Report Mountain States 06/27/2 06/27/2 Technical Report for Colorado Water Energy Research Center CWERC Well # Accutest Job Number: Sampling Date: 06/3/2 Report to: Colorado Water Energy Research Center These are the analy, cal results for the first well CWERC sampled to beta- test its dra= monitoring guide. CWERC chose Accutest from its list of recommended labs because it is close to Boulder, which made it possible to drive the samples over instead of shipping them. Analy, cal reports can be difficult to understand, as they are full of unfamiliar terms and acronyms. Read on to see how you can make sense of these kinds of documents. Look for the blue arrows and text boxes like this one. Total number of pages in report: 35 This example report is best used in conjunc,on with our Water Quality Interpreta,on Guide, which describes all of the analytes in our monitoring program and provides,ps on how to make sense of results. Test results contained within this data package meet the requirements of the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference and/or state specific certification programs as applicable. Brad Madadian Laboratory Director Certifications: CO, ID, NE, NM, (R-027) (PW), UT (NELAP CO00049), TX (T ) This report shall not be reproduced, except in its entirety, without the written approval of Accutest Laboratories. If they add 00 mg/l of a substance and recover 80 mg/l upon analysis, that would suggest 80% efficiency. Surrogates are added to all samples being tested for organic compounds. In this case, efficiency is 82-88%. Repor,ng Limit (RL) versus Method Detec,on Limit (MDL): A Repor,ng Limit is the limit of detec,on for an analyte in other words, the lowest cer, fied detectable level. Regulators and labs set the Repor,ng Limit at the lowest point to which the analy, cal equipment can be calibrated. The Method Detec,on Limit is a sta,s,cal es,mate of how low the method s detec,on abili,es can go, which is why it s lower than the regulated Repor,ng Limit. The next 22 pages document the lab s Quality Control ac,vi,es. This sec,on is for vola,le organic compounds, such as the BTEX compounds. GC/MS stands for gas chromatography- mass spectrometry which is the method used to detect these compounds. When the lab tests the samples they do so in batches of 20 or less. Each batch contains a method blank, a blank spike, and a matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate. More on those in the next pages. 3 of 35
