7 The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is proud to present our fifth annual Chef Throwdown Against Cystic Fibrosis! This exciting event will revolve around food, drink and fun, and all proceeds will benefit the CF Foundation s ongoing mission to find a cure for cystic fibrosis (CF). We plan to create a fun party, a place where friends, colleagues, and strangers get together, enjoy spectacular food, and have a fantastic time, all in the name of a great cause. The event is designed to be a showcase of what makes San Diego such a special place to live. Some of the city s best chefs will create dishes that will please even the most devout foodie, all in the company of great people! To keep the focus on the food, the event will be done with stations, and guests will be able to visit each chef, try their selections, and then come back for more from those they loved. In the end, guests will be asked to vote on the title of The 2016 Great Chef Award, and that winner will be announced at the end of the event! Medical evidence shows that germs may spread among people with CF through direct and indirect contact as well as through droplets that travel short distances when a person coughs or sneezes. These germs can lead to worsening symptoms and speed decline in lung function. To further help reduce the risk of cross-infection, the Foundation's attendance policy recommends that all people with CF maintain a safe 6-foot distance from each other at all times while attending an outdoor Foundation-sponsored event. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has unrestricted financial reserves of about 13 times its budgeted annual expenses, following a one-time royalty sale in These funds, along with the public s continuing support, are needed to help accelerate our efforts to pursue a lifelong cure for this fatal disease, develop lifesaving new therapies and help all people with CF live full, productive lives.
