3 WG1 Agenda 23 rd Sept 2016 Sustainable development of the Agricultural and Fishery Sectors WG Chair: A/Prof Matthew Tan 2.30pm Report of Climate Smart Initiatives by APEC Centre for Sustainable Development for Agriculture & Fishery Sectors 3pm - Report on the concept note submitted for hosting the WG1 Sustainable Development Conference in 2017 & getting input from various economies. 3.30pm - Preparation for WG1 summary report and intersessional work program for pm Tea Break 3 WG1 Policy Statement In order to achieve sustainable development, we encourage PPFS to focus on: promoting research, development and technology dissemination; strengthening small holder and women s organizations, cooperation and resilience, protecting small holders and women from current and future negative impacts (e.g. climate change), empowering them into the food supply and value chains, and enhancing services (e.g. logistics, sanitary control systems, sanitary inspection) and training for them; promoting sustainable management and use of natural resources; and promoting consumption of sustainably produced food. 4 2
