2 The programme with a duration of 3 years ( ) Is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Is a common programme of SWG and GIZ LEIWW aims to build capacities for rural development, sustainable natural resource management Objectives and interventions are commonly developed and based on regional proposals Targets 6 countries/territories in South-East-Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia Seite 2

3 Programme Objective: The regional capacities for sustainable water and forestry management within the scope of rural economic development are improved Output A Regional Level Output B Regional and National Level Output C Regional and Local Level Output A: Improved intersectoral coordination between the environment, forestry, water and rural development/agriculture Output B: Preconditions for an evidence-based and EU compliant policy development for integration of environmental objectives in agricultural / rural development policy are created Output C: Models for the sustainable use of natural resources are demonstrated in selected CBA Output D: The SWG Policy Dialogue structure is consolidated and serves as a backbone for common policy recommendations and crosscutting networking activities Output D Cross Cutting Seite 3

6 Objectives of the assignment for evidence-based and EU compliant policy development Interdisciplinary SWG Expert Networks and REAWGs are strengthened Evidence-based policy assessments and gap analyses have been conducted with regard to Rural Development in general, Areas with Natural Constrains and the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in SEE The policy recommendations developed are fed into public discourse and policy dialogue Policy recommendations taken up regionally/in selected SWG member territories Output B: Preconditions for an evidence-based and EU compliant policy development for integration of environmental objectives in agricultural / rural development policy are created Seite 6
