4 4 SCAFFOLDING (ELEMENTARY) LEVEL: Level 3 CREDIT VALUE: 190 Credits DURATION: 16 months, workshops and practical training with the qualification gained. They will also be qualified to work at heights, set up fall arrest systems, and sling regular loads and communicate during crane operations. The National Certificate in Scaffolding (Elementary) (Level 3) recognises the skills of a trade certified scaffolder. The holder of the qualification is able to base out, erect, and dismantle straightforward proprietary and tube and fitting scaffolding structures to 33 metres in height. The holder can also assure the compliance of the structures, move safely on them at heights and lead a team to build elementary scaffolds. This is a 16 month programme delivered in workshops which are integrated into your practical training. Visit WHAT WILL YOU STUDY? The National Certificate in Scaffolding (Intermediate) (Level 4) recognises the skills of a Trade Certified Scaffolder, with greater technical abilities. The holder of this qualification is able to plan, erect and dismantle complex scaffolding structures such as, birdcage scaffolds, vessels scaffolds, sloping platforms, catch fans and simple canterlevers. The holder can also assure the compliance of the structures and lead a scaffolding team. This is a 1 year programme delivered in workshops that will compliment the experience gained on the job. Visit This is a 1 year programme delivered in block courses that will reflect industry skills & knowledge gained in the industry. Standards can be viewed on CORE CONTENT Theory instruction on legislative design and implementation of advanced scaffold concepts Practical workshops for specialist scaffolds and team management Practical assessments on advanced scaffolding tasks Suspended Scaffolding Certificate certain overseas qualifications WHAT WILL YOU STUDY? The National Certificate in Scaffolding (Advanced) recognises the skills and knowledge required to work as a Specialist Scaffolder. The term advanced refers to the range of equipment used and the level of competence of the qualification holder. Holders of the National Certificate with the Advanced Scaffolding strand are those whose work is in the planning and erection of ALL scaffolds to meet the highest demands found in the scaffolding industry. This is the highest level qualification available in this industry.

Visit WHAT WILL YOU STUDY? FURTHER STUDY PATHWAYS National Certificate in Scaffolding (Elementary) National Certificate in Scaffolding (Intermediate) National Certificate in Scaffolding (Advanced) certain overseas qualifications Holders of the National Certificate with the Suspended Scaffolding strand are those whose work is in relation to cable supported scaffolds in their various configurations, such as bosuns chairs, swing stages and BMU s. This is a 1 year programme delivered in workshops that will be integrated in to your job. Standards can be viewed on

9 9 RIGGING (INTERMEDIATE) LEVEL: Level 3 CREDIT VALUE: 163 Credits DURATION: 12 months, workshops which are integrated into, and will complement, your experience gained on the job START DATE: Multiple intakes per year END DATE: Varies LOCATION: Auckland 2017 DOMESTIC FEE: Visit for further Conditions apply. Visit WHAT WILL YOU STUDY? The National Certificate Rigging (Intermediate) (Level 3) recognises the skills of a Trade Certified Rigger. Your theory and practical lessons will include: Core compulsory unit standards 67 credits Intermediate Rigging unit standards 95 credits Please refer to the breakdown of the Unit Standards on page 11 This is a 12 month programme delivered in workshops that will compliment the experience gained on the job. The holder of this qualification is able to carry out functions such as rig cranes, conveyors, and similar gear for heavy lifts; handle the associated rope work; and work at heights. They may go onto the Advanced strand of the National Certificate and/or change direction in their work or further develop skills by transferring credits to the National Certificate in Scaffolding. Graduates will have the recognised skills and knowledge required to work as an intermediate level rigger. The holder will also be qualified to carry out basic functions rig cranes, conveyors, and similar gear for heavy lifts; handle the associated rope work; and work at heights. 10 10 RIGGING (ADVANCED) LEVEL: Level 4 CREDIT VALUE: 188 Credits DURATION: 12 months, workshops which are integrated into, and will complement, your experience gained on the job START DATE: Multiple intakes per year END DATE: Varies LOCATION: Auckland 2017 DOMESTIC FEE: Visit for further 2017 INTERNATIONAL FEE: Visit for further Conditions apply. Visit WHAT WILL YOU STUDY? The National Certificate Rigging (Advanced) (Level 4) recognises the skills of a Trade Certified Rigger. Your theory and practical lessons will include: Core compulsory unit standards 67 credits Advanced Rigging unit standards 120 credits Please refer to the breakdown of the Unit Standards on page 11 This is a 12 month programme delivered in workshops that will compliment the experience gained on the job. The holder of this qualification are able to meet the top equipment usage level in the rigging industry such as guyed derricks, gin poles, cable ways and fabricated hung scaffolds. They are also able to plan and supervise complex operations. This is the highest level qualification available in this industry. Graduates will have the recognised skills and knowledge required to work as an advanced level rigger. Standards can be viewed on

12 12 ENTRY CRITERIA SCAFFOLDING (ELEMENTARY) Applicants must meet the following criteria: Be 16 years of age or over. Must have successfully achieved NCEA Level One (or equivalent), or be able to demonstrate sound written and oral skills, or have achieved a local or National Certificate in the Construction industry or a related field. Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.5 or above. Special Notes: Special Entry may be granted when evidence exists that the applicant can successfully complete the programme. certain overseas qualifications. Must have successfully achieved NCEA Level One (or equivalent), or be able to demonstrate sound written and oral skills. Be in full-time employment as applicants must be able to enter into a training agreement with their employer. Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.5 or above. Special Notes: Special Entry may be granted when evidence exists that the applicant can successfully complete the programme. For safety reasons, physical strengths, dexterity, balance co-ordination and motor skills all need to be unimpaired to work within this industry. certain overseas qualifications.
