2 Neessry testing nd preprtion / Su-floors 1. Neessry testing nd preprtions EGGER's Design+ flooring is mnuftured in speifi prodution stges in the most modern prodution sites. Both finished nd semi-finished produts re sujeted to regulr nd stringent heks. Despite qulity ontrols, dmge to individul ords, for exmple during trnsport, nnot lwys e ompletely prevented. Therefore, it is requirement to doule-hek Design+ flooring elements efore the instlltion jo. 2. Su-floors 2.1 All su-floors must e prepred for instlltion in ordne with norml su-floor preprtion proedures nd epted tolernes within the flooring industry. Plese onsider the following points efore strting to instll EGGER Design+ flooring: Cheking the moisture level in the su-floor: Use CM devie to ensure the following levels re not exeeded: For ement sreed 2 CM % heted sreed 1.8 CM % For lium sulphte sreed / lium sulphte sreed 0.5 CM % heted onrete 0.3 CM % These vlues pply to sreeds without dditives. With the use of dditives nd in se of fst-setting sreed, the mesurements nd limits speified y the respetive mnufturer shll pply. The test mteril must e otined from the lower one-third of the sreed. During this proess, the thikness of the sreed must e mesured nd doumented. Cheking if the su-floor is level: The test for level floor is sed on ommon stndrds nd tkes ple y pling yrdstik / strightedge on the high points of the surfe nd determining the guge t the deepest lotion in reltion to the ering surfes (mesuring point intervls). Use mx. 2 mm guge (vertil devition) t 100 m intervls. Lrger devitions should e ddressed y suitle mesures (e.g. with self-levelling ompounds). Cheking the lod ering pity of the su-floor: The su-floor must e seled, self-supporting lyer. Cheking if the su-floor is len: The su-floor must e vuum lened. Cheking tmospheri onditions: The following onditions should e met efore, during nd fter instlltion: n ir temperture of min. 18 C floor surfe temperture of min. 15 C reltive ir humidity of etween 40 % nd 70 % 2.2 Suitle for the full-surfe glueing of EGGER Design+ flooring: ll types of sreed inluding hot wter-heted sreed ermi tiles hipord strutures fireords whih pply when estlishing rediness for instlltion in line with the requirements outlined under point 2.1. Su-floors not suitle for full-surfe glueing re: textile floor overings existing floor overings mde of PVC, linoleum, vinyl su-floors not prepred for instlltion in ordne with norml proedures nd epted tolernes within the flooring industry 2.3 EGGER Design+ flooring instlled s floting flooring system n e instlled on ll su-floors whih meet the requirements desried under point 2.1. This inludes: ll types of sreed inluding hot wter-heted sreed hipord onstrutions fireords floor overings suh s PVC, linoleum, nd ermi tiles 2

3 Su-floors not suitle for floting instlltion re: textile floor overings Su-floors not prepred for instlltion in ordne with norml proedures nd epted tolernes within the flooring industry Su-floors with limited degree of suitility for oth floting instlltion nd full-surfe glueing re: eletrilly operted floor nd film heting systems (ontrol of surfe temperture) Eletril floor heting systems re lssified s su-floors with limited suitility given tht rnge of film-sed, eletril heting systems re le to generte surfe tempertures tht signifintly exeed 28 C. EGGER pproves n eletrilly operted floor heting system when the elow pplies: it is integrted in the sreed or the onrete lyer nd n e ontrolled digitlly, so tht the surfe temperture never exeeds 28 C. it is film heting system loted on top of the sreed / onrete lyer nd n e ontrolled digitlly, so tht the surfe temperture never exeeds 28 C. the mnufturer hs delred the produt s tehnilly suitle for instlltion in omintion with lminte flooring nd multilyer, modulr floors (EGGER Cork+, EGGER Design+) with Cli onnetion. Attention! When instlling on minerl su-floors, it is solutely neessry to instll moisture protetion film with n SD vlue > 75 m s vpour rrier elow the insultion underly, on the entire surfe nd extending up the wll. When using insulting produts whih re not prt of the EGGER essories rnge, floting instlltion on heted flooring strutures (surfe heting systems) voids ll wrrnties with regrd to ompline with the effetive, mximum llowle therml trnsfer resistne of the overll struture. Sreed When instlling EGGER Design + flooring onto sreed using the full-surfe glueing method, it is oligtory to ensure tht n dhesive or dhesive system pproved y EGGER is used for this purpose. An overview of pproved dhesives is ville t For floting instlltion of EGGER Design + flooring over sreed, it must e tken into ount tht possile residul moisture in the su-floor will seep to the surfe. This requires lying moisture protetion film with n SD vlue > 75 m s vpour rrier efore pplying system-speifi insulting su-floor ross the full surfe nd extending up the wll using the full-surfe glueing method (exeption st sphlt). The strips must overlp in the joining res y 20 m, or in the se of omintion mts (see EGGER Silenzio Duo), ording to instlltion instrutions. Suitle / pproved underlys re ville t Sreeds with hot wter floor heting When uilding heted flooring struture, ll prtiipnts (uilder, rhitet, heting speilist, heting tehniin, instller, nd flooring mnufturer) should o-ordinte tehnil requirements with eh other. Any surfe-heted flooring requires pproprite plnning nd o-ordintion for the heting system nd sreed to ensure mximum long-term performne without using ny dmge. Importnt: The surfe temperture of heted floor my not exeed 28 C (83 F). Prior to eginning the flooring instlltion, existing floor overings must e removed nd the su-floor's suitility for instlltion (levelness, lod ering pity, moisture) must e heked ording to the EGGER instlltion instrutions for Design+ floors. The stndrd heks of the instlltion su-floor must inlude inspeting the funtion of the floor heting / ooling system (funtionl heting / ooling), nd in ddition, proper rising nd lowering of the temperture of the heted sreed struture in ny seson must e proven nd doumented. Funtionl heting nd floor uring heting When heting the lod nd het distriution lyer, distintion is mde etween funtionl heting nd floor uring heting. Funtionl heting: Funtionl heting is the proof of the heting instller tht proper struture hs een uilt nd is used to verify the funtionlity of heted flooring strutures. Funtionl heting must tke ple ording to DIN EN As prt of the heting system instlltion, funtionl heting must tke ple nd e doumented ording to the mnufturer's instrutions nd the orresponding heting protool. In the event tht the su-floor is ement sreed, the heting-up phse must not egin efore 21 dys from instlltion. In the event tht the su-floor is lium sulphte sreed, do not strt the heting-up phse efore 7 dys fter instlltion. Attention! Oserve the mnufturer s speifitions! Begin the heting-up phse with wter temperture of 25 C (77 F), whih must e mintined for three dys. The wter temperture is susequently inresed until the design flow wter temperture is rehed (generlly 45 C / 131 F). Mintin the mximum flow wter temperture over period of 4 dys without night-time shutoff. Importnt: Funtionl heting does not gurntee tht the sreed hs rehed the residul moisture required for instlltion suitility. Therefore, instlltion uring eomes or is generlly neessry. 3

4 Floor uring heting: This is the expelling of the residul moisture in the sreed until instlltion suitility is rehed. In the event tht the su-floor is ement sreed, do not strt the heting-up phse until minimum 28 dys fter instlltion. In the event tht the su-floor is lium sulphte sreed, do not strt the heting-up phse until minimum 14 dys fter instlltion. Attention! Oserve the mnufturer s speifitions! Requirements for the mximum sreed moisture (CM mesurement) if the top floor is Design+ floor: Cement sreed (trget): 1.8 % Clium sulphte sreed (trget): 0.3 % When full-surfe glueing EGGER Design + flooring elements over heted sreed, it is oligtory to ensure tht n dhesive or dhesive system pproved y EGGER is used. An overview of pproved dhesives is ville t For the floting instlltion of EGGER Design + flooring over heted sreed, it must e tken into ount tht possile residul moisture in the su-floor will seep to the surfe of the su-floor. This requires lying over ll sreeds moisture protetion film with SD vlue > 75 m s vpour rrier efore pplying system-speifi insulting su-floor ross the full surfe nd extending up the wll. When properly instlled, the strips must overlp in the joining res y 20 m, or, in the se of omintion mts (see EGGER Silenzio Duo), ording to proessing instrutions. When using insulting lyers outside of the EGGER essories rnge, floting instlltion on heted sreed voids ll wrrnties in regrds to ompline with the effetive, mximum llowle therml trnsfer resistne of the overll struture. Suitle / pproved underlys re ville t Floor heting systems whih het nd ool: These systems re lso suitle if ll forementioned points, suh s relese y the system mnufturer for use under EGGER Design+ flooring, digitl temperture ontrol, s well s mximum surfe temperture of 28 C when heting, re oserved. Furthermore, when ooling, these systems must mintin minimum surfe temperture of 15 C. The proper instlltion of dew point sensor to monitor possily ourring ondenstion is lso required. Woodhip nd fireord When full-surfe glueing EGGER Design + flooring elements on woodhip or fireord, it is oligtory to mke sure tht n dhesive or dhesive system pproved y EGGER is used. An overview of pproved dhesives is ville t For floting instlltion of EGGER Design + floors on woodhip or fireords, system-speifi insulting lyer must e used to improve the impt nd mient sound. A vpour rrier is not neessry. Suitle / pproved underlys re ville t Cermi tiles When full-surfe glueing EGGER Design + flooring over ermi tiles, it is neessry to ensure tht n dhesive or dhesive system pproved y EGGER is used. An overview of pproved dhesives is ville t For floting instlltion of EGGER Design + flooring on ermi tiles, it should e tken into ount tht possile residul moisture in the su-floor will seep to the surfe. This requires lying moisture protetion film with SD vlue > 75 m s vpour rrier efore pplying system-speifi insulting su-floor, ross the full surfe nd extending up the wll. For proper instlltion, the strips must overlp in the joining res y 20 m, or in the se of omintion mts (see EGGER Silenzio Duo), ording to proessing instrutions. Suitle / pproved underlys re ville t Elsti flooring surfes (PVC, linoleum, vinyl) The full-surfe glueing of EGGER Design + flooring on elsti flooring surfes is not permitted. The floting instlltion of EGGER Design + flooring on elsti flooring surfes is permitted if the ltter re in suitle stte, disply stle nd losed surfe (no ulges / dethments, no rks), nd re onsidered suffiient for instlltion with regrd to the requirements outlined under point 2.1. For floting instlltion of EGGER Design + flooring on suh surfes, instlling moisture protetion film nd impt sound underly is not neessry, given tht the elsti flooring surfe fulfills these roles. 4

5 3. INSTALLATION PREPARATION Alimtising the flooring pnels Prior to instlltion, the Design+ flooring must e stored nd limtised in the room where they will e instlled or in room with the sme limte ondition. Alimtistion must follow the elow onditions: unopened pkging over period of t lest 48 hours lid flt, minimum of 50 m from ll wlls t room temperture of minimum 18 C t flooring surfe temperture of minimum 15 C t reltive tmospheri humidity of etween 40 % nd 70 % Lying diretion There is no speifi lying diretion required, therefore EGGER Design+ flooring n e instlled s preferred. However, Design+ flooring looks est when the ords re instlled prllel to the light diretion. Plnning the first row First, the room must e mesured to determine whether the width of the first row of ords should e redued. This will e neessry if the lst row is lulted to e less thn 5 m wide. Attention! The pnel should e ut lengthwys strting from the tongue side (red plsti lip). Plnning expnsion gps EGGER Design+ flooring hs speifi movement ehviour due to hnging mient limte onditions. Movement of the finished, instlled floor will pose no prolems when llowed through the use of expnsion joints to ll fixed ojets. Noise trnsfer is therefore lso voided. Consequently, to ensure sound insultion from the rest of the struture (the wlls), oth the floting instlltion nd the fullsurfe glueing of Design+ flooring requires n edge / wll distne of width of 8 mm to 10 mm to the fixed omponents of the onstrution, suh s wlls, door frmes, pipe onduits, pillrs, stirwys, et. Plnning movement profiles Given the mteril-speifi movement ehviour of Design+ floors nd reognised rules of the trde, movement profiles must lwys e uilt into the following surfe res / room sizes: ) in the se of instlltion vi full-surfe glueing: In the se of full-surfe instlltion of Design + flooring, movement profiles only need to e uilt into door thresholds / pssgewys if there is funtionlly required joint (expnsion joint) inluded in the struture. Both res must overlp in spe, s funtionlly required onstrution joints must e expnded into the top floor. In the se of full-surfe glueing of Design + flooring, the mximum surfe size is determined y the funtionlly required onstrution joints. In this generl ontext, the following reognised rule of the trde pplies: All funtionlly required onstrution joints (e.g., movement joints) loted in the su-floor my never e sujeted to forefitting losing nd must e expnded into the top floor. ) in se of floting instlltion: door thresholds pssgewys ngled res individul room lengths nd / or widths of more thn 15 m Attention! With most profile types, the se (su-profile) to ept the over profile must e instlled prior to instlling the EGGER Design+ floor. Built-in kithens / uilt-in inets Built-in kithens nd uilt-in inets should e ssemled prior to instlltion nd the Design+ floor should e pled only until under the plinth pnel. 5
