2 What do I use these cards for? As our client we want to keep you and your family safe around our workplace (site). To ensure this happens we want you to read through these Client Induction Cards and ensure you understand the following: The emergency procedures Your responsibilities as a client The site rules The common hazards and risk controls for this site If you have any queries or are unsure of anything, please discuss it with the Site Supervisor or the person that showed you these Cards. For all other health and safety related assistance, please call HazardCo on
3 Site rules No unauthoried access to the site No drugs or alcohol on site No children (under 15 years) on site unless under direct supervision at ALL times No use or touching of equipment or tools unless authorised No animals on site Keep off any scaffolding, structures and ladders unless authorised All visitors to the workplace must sign the Visitor Register Visitors should not be left to roam the site and should be escorted for the duration of their visit
4 Emergency procedures In the event of an injury STAY CALM! Shut down all plant, machinery and equipment Provide first aid (do not leave patient) DIAL 111 and Provide your site address Identify the service you need (Fire, Police, Ambulance) Have someone meet the emergency services Call HazardCo on IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY Gas leak Chemical spill Electrical event Earthquake Fire Shut down all plant, machinery and equipment Seek shelter (if earthquake) Evacuate site (all other emergencies) Proceed to assembly point (Hazard Board or other safe area) DIAL 111 and follow the above steps Report ALL events (injury/illness /incident/near miss) to HazardCo on
5 Client responsibilities Follow the site rules Ensure you have permission to be on site. If asked to leave, do so immediately If bringing others to site, you MUST show them these cards Secure/leave site as you found it CAUTION! 6 Children Children should not be brought on site or enter a work area whilst work is in progress When work is not in progress, children MUST be supervised at all times Do not allow children to climb on any plant/structures Keep children away from stacked/stored materials
7 Excavations Keep clear of machinery at all times When in place, always keep behind any barriers Keep clear of trenches and holes
8 Moving plant or machinery Remain visible to operator at all times Stay clear of entry and exit points Stay clear of loading and unloading areas Do not climb on or touch equipment
9 Electrocution Do not touch any electrical wiring Do not touch or use any electrical devices
10 Reinforcing steel Take extra caution near steel Do not remove caps Report any uncapped steel to Site Supervisor
11 Trips, slips and falls Watch your step Keep clear of work areas Keep clear of uneven surfaces Where possible, stay on defined walkways
12 Ladders and scaffolding Do not climb or use ladders and scaffolding unless authorised or supervised Do not stand below workers using ladders and scaffolding
13 Power tools Do not touch or use power tools Keep well clear if power tools are in operation Use hearing protection if required
14 Personal protective equipment (PPE) You MUST wear any PPE that you are asked to wear when on site Always wear appropriate footwear on site Ask the Site Supervisor if you feel you need any additional PPE (eg hearing protection)
15 Stacked materials Do not touch or move any stacked materials Avoid storage areas Do not stand near workers when materials are being moved
