Barlby High School is one of three secondary schools in the Hope Learning Trust Family, York. This is an exciting time for the academy an exciting opportunity for an ambitious educational professional to join the team. I look forward to hearing from you! Barlby High School is an comprehensive school which serves a mixed catchment 12 miles south of York. The school has a population of around 540 students; we are a friendly, warm caring community school. Academic success is important as it is the foundation for the next stage of school life gives students that opportunity to choose their future career path. MAIL: Miss C Webster PA to the Principal Barlby High School York Road Barlby High School YO8 5JP Job Description ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY DATA MANAGEMENT To develop strong relationships with all individuals required for delivery of information services To liaise effectively with relevant teams to ensure new MIS applications are communicated understood To effectively integrate disseminate the MIS to inform influence professional practice in the school To ensure that all staff involved in using any new system or processes receive timely communications are trained in advance of implementation To ensure accurate timely data entry, including staff student joiners leavers; census (SIMS) To produce management reports for exam results, SATs, student events, student attendance, staff attendance, staff performance to enable management decisions to be made To produce reports for staff to assist in teaching management of students (attendance, events, records) To develop new uses for MIS system (new reports, DOS assistance, SEN, learning styles) To assist in the setting of student targets using available data To ensure integrity timeliness of teaching group entries for new timetables such that individual student timetables are ready for the new academic year produce the timetables 2

3 To ensure highest quality of SIMS information for students, e.g. medical forms, common transfer files, reports To undertake role of Educational Visits Administrator To be available to import GCSE exam results at each results date throughout the year produce necessary management reports To problem-solve when staff identify issues personally responsible for excellent service to all staff Effectively communicate with all staff verbally by Communicate with NYCC other schools to establish best practice that can be implemented at Barlby High School Suggest new working practices to take advantage of new technology Ensure that all MIS processes are shared with others as far as possible to ensure succession or absence does not put the school at risk document all processes. Deliver training to new staff, both teaching non-teaching, about how to use the SIMS attendance module for electronic registration To undertake any such task as may reasonably be required by the Senior Leadership Team to effect excellent quality service in the data, MIS attendance systems IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE EXAMS/ASSESSMENT OFFICER To design write reports that produce the school s reports to parents/carers To check that all assessments are received according to the school calendar chase staff ensure assessments are complete To assist the Exams Officer with the running of examinations, entries, etc. To produce assessment reports to enable Vice Principal Faculty Leaders to identify students for assertive intervention in order to raise achievement of students ADMINISTRATION/OTHER Assist in the provision of administrative, financial, clerical secretarial duties as required. Participate in the school s performance appraisal scheme. Assist in the induction training of new employees Support the school s aims by working in other areas of the school completing duties as required Administer basic first aid contacting parents in the event of an accident or incident involving their child. Record accidents in accident book. Make appropriate decisions to problems/issues when they arise within the office. Being responsible for the records returns required by the LA, DCSF etc. Participate in training other learning activities performance development as required.
