1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title Department Division Reports to Salary Range Term Digital Product Manager (Commercial) Digital Media Business and Governance Digital Projects Manager 35,882-40,604 Permanent The Department of Digital Media is responsible for the development, delivery and provision of digital media within the Imperial War Museum (IWM) and its branches IWM London, IWM Duxford, IWM North, Churchill War Rooms and HMS Belfast. As Digital Product Manager (Commercial), you will be joining a friendly, skilled team who are passionate about the opportunities that digital media offers to our visitors, both on and off site. You will work closely with the Commercial Division and the Digital Projects Manager to lead the development of new and existing digital products across all commercial business streams. You should have extensive project management skills, including some experience of agile and Prince2 methodologies. You will be experienced at taking projects from conception to completion, consistently achieving objectives to time and budget by balancing creative leadership with a pragmatic, hands-on approach and by deploying appropriate processes and methodologies. Your duties 1. Lead product development for IWM s B2B and B2C websites. Initially, this will include the development of our online ticketing proposition, the development and implementation of a CRM programme, the development of a new image sales platform and a review of commercial services presence on the main IWM website. 2. Longer term, this will include the redevelopment of our online retail proposition, the redevelopment of our Film website and the development of commercial apps and ebooks. 3. Manage the prioritisation process of the features backlog, focusing on delivering the minimum number of features for the maximum impact. 4. Use appropriate tools like clickable prototypes, written specs, personas or daily stand-ups to communicate solutions 5. Working with our in house commercial team to gain insights about customers that can be used to create new product ideas or make product improvements. 6. Work closely with the ecommerce function to ensure we optimise our websites and Search Engine Marketing activities to enable us to reach our commercial goals. 7. 2 9. Work with web producers and designers to schedule content updates 10. Work with technical web manager and web developer on technical implementation of product development 11. Working with commercial teams across the museum to create user stories 12. Work closely with the IT department to integrate web technology with backend systems 13. Conduct competitor analysis to drive product changes 14. Directly manage third party suppliers and the products they deliver, when used as project resources within IWM to ensure quality and value for money. 15. To conduct such work as directed by line management consistent with departmental standards and to agreed timescales. 16. To provide an annual statement of Personal Aims and Objectives as agreed with line management in line with IWM Personnel policy. Health and Safety 1. 3 Essential criteria How this will be assessed 1 Degree level qualification Application form 2 Excellent project management skills with clear evidence of creating and delivering large-scale digital projects to time and on budget 3 Experience of using a range of techniques and digital media for public engagement 4 Excellent presentation skills 5 Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with confidence to communicate at all levels 6 Creativity in terms of briefing and directing a creative process 7 Strong IT skills including use of Content Management Systems, databases and Microsoft Office including MS Project 8 Practical experience of introducing agile project management to an organisation 9 Managing stakeholders with conflicting priorities at different levels across an organisation 10 An understanding of current web standards for accessibility and functionality 11 An understanding of current and emergent web technologies 12 Skills and experience of producing detailed project documentation, including sitemaps, wireframes, budgets and schedules. 13 Experience of using evaluation metrics and analytics tools such as Google Analytics 14 Proven experience of project management delivering webbased projects. 15 A solid understanding of ecommerce, particularly around eticketing and online retail. 16 A good understanding of online purchasing behaviours and psychology, including a good awareness of commercial and financial KPIs 17 Demonstrable interest in the museum s subject matter Desirable criteria 18 Experience of working in a Museum or similar institution Application form Key competencies 19 Proactive change Takes an active role in encouraging and implementing new ideas. 5 Terms and Conditions Your normal hours of work will be 41 gross including lunch breaks. This would normally be Monday to Thursday 09:00-17:15 and Friday 09:00-17:00, unless otherwise agreed with your line manager. There is a requirement on occasions to work unsocial hours or at weekends for which leave in lieu will be granted. The successful candidate will be on probation for 6 months. The annual leave allowance is 25 days per annum plus public holidays, rising to 30 days after five year s service. IWM has introduced a total ban on smoking in all its buildings. In the first 13 months of service you are only eligible to Statutory Sick Pay. Salary The salary range for the post is 35,882-40,604. Starting salary is normally at the minimum of the range. Salary increases are in line with the IWM s Performance Pay Scheme, which is subject to government pay policy.
