6 Jamie Millar Conor McLaughlin Is this the right opportunity for you? Brett Martin has welcomed a number of apprentices into the Academy, so don t just take our word for it read what our current apprentices have to say! Jamie Millar Apprentice What attracted you to work at Brett Martin? I was attracted to Brett Martin as it was very highly thought of with a great reputation. The work involved offered a lot of variety, which I thought would be interesting. What do you enjoy most about it? I enjoy learning new things each day and the wide range of projects I get to work on. What are the benefits of undertaking an Apprenticeship with Brett Martin? I think the main benefit is getting the right training to do the job accurately. I also attend college one day a week and have the opportunity to put what I learn there into practice at work. How do you find studying and working at the same time? Very beneficial, it allows me to put what I learn at college into practice, putting studying into perspective. Do you feel your apprenticeship equips you with the skills needed for future employment? Yes, because I aim to follow a career in mechanical engineering. I feel my apprenticeship will lead to full time employment as I have gained the skills I need to succeed. Conor McLaughlin Trainee Process Technician What attracted you to work at Brett Martin? I wanted to work for one of Northern Ireland s top Manufacturing companies. I was familiar with the products produced and the global reach of the company. I knew it was an opportunity I could not miss. What do you enjoy most about it? The job specification gained from working in a challenging, dynamic and fast paced production environment. It is a thrill when the production process is enhanced by a procedure that I put in place. What new skills have you learnt and how will this equip you in the future? The list of skills I have acquired are endless. However the main thing that Brett Martin has taught me, is how to separate and prioritise tasks based on how much they will benefit the company. How would you sum up your experience in one sentence? My experience has given me the opportunity to put the knowledge gained through university into practice within a world class organisation Brett Martin Academy
