IN BRIEF The Healthy Wrkplaces Campaigns (HWC) are the wrld s biggest wrkplace safety and health campaigns. These decentralised campaigns are crdinated by the Eurpean Agency fr Safety and Health at Wrk (EU-OSHA), whse Gverning Bard is made up f representatives f gvernments, emplyers and wrkers frm EU Member States, and representatives f the Eurpean Cmmissin. Thrugh a rich prtfli f initiatives and a cmmitted netwrk f natinal fcal pints, stakehlders and partners, they reach natinal and Eurpean wrkers and emplyers rganizatins, institutins, cmpanies and wrkers thrughut Eurpe, and beynd. In 2014-15, the campaign fcuses n the imprtance f assessing and managing stress and psychscial risks in the wrkplace. Its key aim is t help emplyers and wrkers representatives, managers and wrkers t identify and manage stress and psychscial risks in the wrkplace. Effectively tackling psychscial risks creates a healthy wrk envirnment in which wrkers feel valued and the wrkplace culture is mre psitive, and, cnsequently, business perfrmance imprves. Like its successful predecessrs, the current campaign is run under the umbrella slgan: Healthy Wrkplaces Gd fr yu. Gd fr business. T supprt the campaign and its partners EU-OSHA: prvides infrmatin and resurces in 25 languages via the Healthy Wrkplaces Campaign website www.healthy-wrkplaces.eu; prvides a supprt package t stimulate and fster activities at the Eurpean and natinal level; crdinates benchmarking initiatives in ccupatinal safety and health (OSH), and rganises the Eurpean Gd Practice Awards cmpetitin and several Eurpean flagship events invlving imprtant EU stakehlders (e.g. EU Cuncil Presidencies, Eurpean Parliament, Eurpean Cmmissin). THE 2014-15 HWC CAMPAIGN PARTNERSHIP OFFER Seizing the pprtunities and challenges f managing stress and psychscial risks in the wrkplace Stress is the secnd mst frequently reprted wrk-related health prblem in Eurpe and is believed t be the cause f mre than half f all lst wrking days. The effective management f stress and psychscial risks is pssible. In fact, psychscial risks can be managed in the same systematic way as any ther ccupatinal safety and health risk. Tackling them can prtect wrkers health and imprve verall business perfrmance, particularly lng-term business sustainability and scial respnsibility. Managing stress and psychscial risks can cntribute t the delivery and imprvement f key business perfrmance indicatrs, such as meeting quality and delivery gals, becming a mre reliable supplier, lwering perating csts and reducing staff turnver. The campaign aims t prmte managing stress and psychscial risks in the wrkplace, creating healthy wrk envirnments and psitive wrking cultures and, ultimately, imprving business perfrmance. The campaign prvides guidance and simple tls t help rganisatins manage psychscial risks, it als helps managers deal with these smetimes sensitive issues in a prfessinal and effective manner. The partnership ffer The Official Campaign Partnership ffer is pen t Eurpean and internatinal cmpanies and rganisatins, ready t jin a netwrk f leading public and private rganisatins, inspiring and encuraging thers t manage stress and psychscial risks. It prvides an excellent pprtunity t benefit frm an extensive range f prmtin actins and learning-exchange initiatives t raise partners prfile within their rganisatin, the OSH cmmunity, and beynd, thrugh the high visibility f the Healthy Wrkplaces Campaign. Benefits The Agency relies n a wide range f channels and actins, and a cnslidated media netwrk t blster visibility t its fficial campaign partners (OCPs) and prmte their cntributins and campaign activities. These include: Cmprehensive visibility and press cverage: whenever the Agency presents and prmtes the Healthy Wrkplaces Campaign at EU level (EU Cuncil Presidency events, Eurpean Gd Practice Awards, Healthy Wrkplaces Summit, etc.) r t the 3

media, fr example, via press releases r ther media actins, the Agency makes reference t its fficial campaign partners. Partners are annuced thrugh an fficial press release distributed at Eurpean and natinal level and thrugh the Agency nline newsletter OSHmail, which is distributed mnthly t ver 60,000 recipients. Visibility n EU-OSHA campaign website www.healthy-wrkplaces.eu. Partners have a dedicated page, prmting their rganisatins cmmitment t the campaign theme, and their news and events related t the campaign. Invitatin t EU-OSHA events: the Agency invites the fficial campaign partners t all its public Eurpean flagship events, where they can meet with ther Eurpean key stakehlders. At the same time the Agency rganises events and activities t fster cperatin and netwrking amng its fficial campaign partners. Hand-ver ceremny: the hand-ver f the partner certificates will take place in the framewrk f a high-level campaign event, granting prmtin and visibility f campaign partners in frnt f leading private and public rganisatins and key plitical decisinmakers. Partner Welcme Pack: fficial campaign partners receive a Welcme Pack, cnsisting f a selectin f campaign publicatins (prduced in 25 languages) and prmtin articles, including DVDs, featuring the ppular cartn character Nap. Scial media and cmmunity engagement: partners campaign-related events and best practices are als prmted via scial media thrugh ur Facebk, Twitter, Yutube and LinkedIn prfiles, reaching a very diverse OSH cmmunity acrss Eurpe. The campaign secretariat can help campaign partners t identify jint campaign cmmunicatin initiatives and netwrking pprtunities. Pssibility t participate in the Gd Practice Award cmpetitin, and submit an applicatin t run in the specific OCP categry, at the Eurpean level. Learning-exchange: Partners are invited t jin the OSH benchmarking initiatives t share their best practices in managing stress and psychscial risks in the wrkplace, but als t take the lead in the develpment f ad-hc benchmarking OSH wrkshps n specific OSH risks. Official Campaign Partnership Stamp: campaign partners can use the fficial OCP stamp that they can include in the rganizatin statinery and nline media. Receive a dedicated campaign partners and stakehlders bimnthly newsletter highlighting all the news, events and initiatives related t the ccampaign and its implementatin at the Eurpean and natinal level. 4

Partners engagement There are different ways fr campaign partners t engage in the campaign and raise awareness abut stress and psychscial risks in the wrkplace. Partners can prmte the campaign: i. Thrugh their netwrks: Distribute infrmatin t affiliated rganisatins and netwrk partners; Distribute campaign material; Distribute campaign press releases and news; Prmte the Eurpean Gd Practice Awards cmpetitin and encurage nminatins. ii. On their website: Prmte the campaign by placing infrmatin n their website; Prvide a link t the campaign website via the Healthy Wrkplaces Campaign banner. iii. At meetings: Give visibility t the campaign by using the psters, PwerPint presentatins, Nap films and disseminating campaign leaflets and flyers, reprts and ther campaign material; Discuss the campaign; Invite an Agency speaker t supprt it and/r ask the Agency fr expert speakers. Partners are als encuraged t develp their wn campaign activities, such as: Review their wn health and safety plices in the area f the campaign tpic and beynd t make wrkplaces safer and healthier; Engage with their partners t get the message acrss; Encurage their netwrk members and affiliates t carry ut activities during the Healthy Wrkplaces Campaign and during the Eurpean Weeks; Encurage natinal netwrk members t prmte activities and partnerships in their wn cuntries and t make cntact with EU-OSHA s crrespnding natinal Fcal Pint. Ideas fr actin: Organise cnferences, seminars and wrkshps; Organise trainings fr netwrk members; Prduce a best practice vide r multimedia DVD; Launch a pster/pht cmpetitin r create a quiz; Organise an exhibitin r pen day; Let peple knw what the rganisatin is ding thrugh an advertising/prmtin campaign, a press cnference r ther media activity. 5

BECOME AN OFFICIAL CAMPAIGN PARTNER Applicatin criteria a) Be an internatinal r Eurpean rganisatin with a representatin and/r netwrk members in several EU Member States; b) Willingness t get substantially invlved in the campaign, meaning at a minimum the: rganizatin f ne campaign-related activity (e.g. cnference, seminar, wrkshp r training); prvisin f visibility t the campaign n yur crprate website; and distributin f infrmatin abut the campaign within the rganisatin/cmpany and amng the rganisatin netwrk partners and supply chain (if relevant). c) Finally, partners must nt intend t use the name, slgan and lg f the campaign in any manner that suggests a direct prduct r services endrsement by the Agency. The first step t becme an fficial campaign partner is filling ut an nline applicatin frm, available n the Healthy Wrkplaces Campaign website www.healthy-wrkplaces.eu. The first rund f applicatins runs between 7 th April t 11 th May 2014. The secnd and final rund will be launched in September 2014 and clse n 31 st Octber 2014. Fr the first rund, the internal selectin prcess will take place at the end f May 2014, and candidate rganisatins will be infrmed sn after. WHO ARE WE? Eurpean Agency fr Safety and Health at Wrk (EU-OSHA) Set up in 1996 by the Eurpean Unin and lcated in Bilba, Spain, the main rle f the Agency is t cntribute t the imprvement f wrking life in the Eurpean Unin. The Agency anticipates new and emerging risks thrugh its Eurpean Risk Observatry and identifies and shares infrmatin, gd practice and advice with a wide range f audiences t prmte a risk preventin culture. EU-OSHA s main awareness-raising activity is the Healthy Wrkplaces Campaign, the wrld s largest ccupatinal health and safety campaign. The Healthy Wrkplaces Campaign 2014-15 Healthy Wrkplaces Manage Stress Fr the next tw years, the Agency will be campaigning t raise awareness f the imprtance f managing stress and psychscial risks in the wrkplace. Althugh tackling psychscial risks and wrk-related stress may seem challenging, this campaign aims t demnstrate that they can be dealt with in the same lgical and systematic way as any ther OSH issue. With this in mind, the Healthy Wrkplaces Campaign 2014-15 has the fllwing key bjectives: t raise awareness f the grwing prblem f wrk-related stress and psychscial risks; t prvide and prmte the use f simple, practical tls and guidance fr managing psychscial risks and stress in the wrkplace; t highlight the psitive effects f managing psychscial risks and stress in the wrkplace, including the business case. The campaign will be fficially launched n 7th April 2014 at a high-level press cnference, in Brussels, attended by the Cmmissiner László Andr, the Greek EU Presidency representative Vasilis Kegkerglu and the EU-OSHA Directr Dr. Christa Sedlatschek. The campaign fllws a netwrk-based apprach and is rganised in all 28 EU Member States and beynd. Our netwrk f natinal fcal pints and many ther partners in Eurpe supprt a wide range f events and activities t prmte the campaign tpics, wrking tgether with emplyers, emplyees and gvernments. The campaign is backed by the EU Cuncil Presidencies f Greece and Italy in 2014 and f Latvia and Luxemburg in 2015, by the Eurpean Parliament and the Eurpean Cmmissin, and by the Eurpean Scial Partners. www.healthy-wrkplaces.eu 7
