We won t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. We provide advice and support to empower anybody experiencing a mental health problem and we campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. Mind has been awarded funding from the Cabinet Office to set-up and deliver a significant new programme of work to support the mental health of Blue Light services personnel within Police, Ambulance, Fire Brigade and Search & Rescue Services. Programme activity will include: 1. Anti-Stigma Work - based on the Time to Change Organisational Engagement project which tackles stigma and discrimination at an organisational level; 2. Workplace Wellbeing - a bespoke mental health training programme for delivery with partners; 3. Resilience - a pilot approach to building the mental health resilience of blue light staff; 4. Information & Support delivery of a bespoke mental health information service for blue light personnel, including work to pilot a clinical intervention. As the Senior Marketing Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the marketing strategy for the Blue Light programme. Scope of the job As Blue Light Senior Marketing Officer you will develop and implement the marketing strategy for the Blue Light programme; ensuring appropriate communications to key 2014.11.24 Blue Light Senior Marketing Officer JD+PS (D) Page 1 of 5
stakeholder groups; developing appropriate content that reflects the experiences of, and speaks to, blue light service personnel. You will work collaboratively with other Blue Light staff and with Mind and Time to Change staff to ensure appropriate materials and publications are developed and reach our target audiences. Mind aims to ensure that the needs and interests of people with mental health problems, people with disabilities, women, men, black and minority ethnic communities, lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender and people of all ages are reflected in all its activities. You will be expected to contribute to this aim. Key responsibilities 1. To lead on development and delivery of the marketing strategy for the Blue Light programme including messaging to encourage Blue Light employers to sign the Time to Change pledge. 2. To draw up and deliver a schedule of publications and communications for the Blue Light programme. 3. To work with the Blue Light Programme Manager to ensure comprehensive and upto-date records of key Blue Light stakeholders are maintained. 4. To ensure appropriate and timely communications are delivered to all stakeholder groups internal and external including government departments, emergency services employers and Mind teams. 5. To deliver high quality editorial services including content development, copyediting and proofreading for marketing materials and related Blue Light programme publications. Marketing materials, publications and communications will reflect the experiences of, and speak to, blue light service personnel and the various services. 6. To work with Blue Light, Mind and Time to Change staff to support them to embed learning from focus group and scoping activities into programme activities. 7. To ensure that all publishing is delivered on time, to high standards, within budget, and is in conformity with Mind s brand guidelines. 8. To work closely with Mind and Time to Change media and communications teams, and with Blue Light staff, to plan and deliver external communications campaigns and to ensure that branding and messaging is consistent all channels. 9. To ensure principles of confidentiality and data protection are maintained. 10. To undertake other duties that may from time to time be necessary, that are compatible with the nature and grade of this post. Expectations 1. Person specification: Blue Light Senior Marketing Officer Essential criteria 1. Demonstrable experience of working in a marketing role and of using a range of marketing tools and techniques including digital media. 2. Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering marketing strategies. 3. Demonstrable experience of delivering high quality editorial services including content development, copyediting and proofreading. 4. Highly developed written, verbal and presentation communication skills. 5. Proven ability to develop effective relationships with a range of stakeholders. 6. Proven experience of project management with experience of scheduling and managing multiple projects within deadline and to required standard. 7. Understanding of publishing media, particularly issues of usability and accessibility. 8. Proven track record of liaising with authors/freelancers/print and design agencies. 9. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously 10. Excellent IT skills including use of MS Office and digital media tools 11. Meticulous approach and accurate proof reading. 12. Ability to manage a marketing budget. 13. Ability to ensure consistency of house style. 14. Understanding of information accessibility issues. 15. Mind (National Association for Mental Health) Additional information Blue Light Senior Marketing Officer Interview and travel expenses Mind is prepared to pay travel expenses for those asked to attend an interview to a maximum of 175. However, the cheapest form of travel must always be used other than in exceptional circumstances in which case the agreement of the Head of Human Resources must be sought. Conditions of employment In the light of legislation [Section 8 Asylum and Immigration Act, January 1997], as a condition of being able to commence employment with Mind, the successful candidate will be required to provide documentation to prove that they are able to work in the UK. Such documents will include one or more of the following, as appropriate: National Insurance number Birth certificate or British passport Certificate of registration, or naturalisation as a British citizen Passport or documentation evidencing citizenship of an EEA country Probation The appointment is subject to a probation period of six months Salary Grade D of Mind's salary scales. Starting salary 29,630 per annum plus 2,992 per annum geographical weighting. Increments will be subject to annual review in accordance with Mind s procedures. Hours of work/flexible working hours A standard 35 hours per week within 8.00am to 7.30pm, Monday to Friday, excluding one hour break for lunch. Mind operates a flexible working hours scheme whereby members of staff can vary the time they start and finish work within the parameters agreed by their line managers. However, the core period of 10.00am to 4.00pm (excluding lunch break) are the times during which you must be at work. Time off will be given for work outside the standard hours. Overtime is not payable.
