2 SUPPORTING LOCAL CHARITIES The Get Companies Active Triathlon is about much more than the companies involved, and making positive life changes - as if that wasn t enough. It s also about raising vital funds for 3 important local charities so they can keep providing and developing the crucial support they do to those most in need across Bolton and the wider area. BOLTON LADS & GIRLS CLUB BOLTON HOSPICE URBAN OUTREACH Bolton Lads and Girls Club is a youth club and registered charity based in Bolton, Greater Manchester. Over 128 years ago, we were one of the first organisations in the North West to recognise the importance of providing young people with a safe haven to spend their free time. We are one of the largest youth clubs in the United Kingdom, with a membership of over 3,500 young people. Based in Bolton s town centre, we are open 7 days a week, 51 weeks a year and welcome all young people aged 8 to 19 years old (up to 21 for young people with disabilities). We offer a range of targeted and universal provisions including sports, arts, mentoring and community outreach work. Bolton Hospice is a cause truly worth getting behind, providing 18 inpatient rooms to those who need vital end-of-life care, as well as 24-hour advice, day support services and outpatient clinics, all catering to the physical and emotional needs of those suffering after a terminal diagnosis. Although the hard work of the trustees and staff at Bolton Hospice makes a huge difference to people in the Bolton community, they need your help to maintain and develop the vital services they offer, including Lymphoedema clinics, physiotherapy and even bereavement support. Diseases like cancer still effect a huge proportion of the UK population, and the Bolton community is no exception, meaning Bolton Hospice is a cause well worth getting your running shoes on for so let s get training and collecting that sponsorship! Urban Outreach is a Christian Charity providing a holistic, person-centred approach to support some of the most disadvantaged, vulnerable and complex adults and young people in Bolton. Established in 1990, Urban Outreach s vision is to be the most dependable and inspirational provider of support and care in Bolton. Delivering a range of work assisting clients: from those experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness (Street Life, Winter Watch); those in crisis (Support First); women with an offending history (Eve s Space), including on-street sex work (Reach Out); people suffering food poverty (Storehouse, Pantry, Local Welfare Provision, Friends of Fun Food, Bolton Lunches and Christmas Dinner on Jesus); supporting missing children (RUNA) and support for troubled families (Family First). With a staff team of 25, supported by 250 volunteers, Urban Outreach has a board of dedicated and experienced trustees drawn from the public, private, voluntary and community sectors.
