3 Current situation The Montenegrin IT Cluster (ITCMNE), is a non-profit organization established in 2013 comprised of IT companies whose main business activities are development of e-gov applications and implementation of cross industry services

4 Current situation Montenegro is very well known as a country which produces one of the best quality honey in the Balkan region, due to specific geographical position and favorable meteorological conditions as well as very specific, semi nomadic way of beekeeping.

5 Current situation Thanks to semi nomadic way of beekeeping and favorable meteorological conditions, Montenegrin honey is produced from the very best of Mediterranean herbs. All of these facts contribute to very good market positioning of Montenegrin honey.

6 Issues According to the users, low quality honey made from unknown resources is a significant concern for the growing industry fairly based on quality.

7 Issues According to the local beekeepers; unregulated production is growing due to the lower costs of production hence lower prices of the product caused by previously mentioned factors.

8 Issues All of the issues mentioned before create food safety problems, undercut fair market prices and damage the industry s reputation for quality and safety

9 GOAL Our main goal is to create recognizable brand with valid certificates from both the Government and the representative EU institute

10 Governmental activities Ministry for Agriculture and Rural Development gave strategic position to beekeeping as one of most promising agricultural branches

11 Governmental activities In 2014 the decision was made to create a business incubator named House of Honey. On Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development opened the first House of Honey in the Municipality of Danilovgrad

12 Ongoing and planed activities In cooperation with Biotechnical Institute and Institute of Hydrometeorology and Seismology and with the support of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development we are developing specific HW and SW solutions for the National Food Traceability Program.

13 Ongoing and planed activities We are in the final phase of developing the National Honey Traceability Program

14 Ongoing and planed activities One of the first results is beekeepers database which includes GPS position of beehive during the year, meteorological conditions of the area, Queen Bee sort etc. for more than 2500 beekeepers.

15 Ongoing and planed activities Strong cooperation with one of the best represented EU Institutes in the field.

16 Tasks All beekeepers in the program MUST accept inspection of beehives conducted by the Veterinary Directorate at any time

17 Tasks All beekeepers included in the program MUST accept random inspection of honey taken from retail and conducted by the representative EU Institute at any time.

18 Tasks Based on analyses of those results as well as on the database data, certified body will issue UNIQE QR code to each beekeeper in accordance with really producible quantities.

20 Tasks We have created a web site which consist of CERTIFIED DATA for every honey jar produced within the program

22 Results All beekeepers which take part in the program will receive the ORIGINAL MONTENERIN HONEY trade mark as well as the unique QR code for each honey jar produced.
