Due to Federal sequestration budget cuts, Hop reports were suspended from the NASS survey program. Regional Contacts Phone: nassrfonwr@nass.usda.gov Washington Christopher Mertz, NW Regional Director Idaho Vince Matthews, Statistician Oregon Dave Losh, Statistician, Hop Statistician Alaska Sue Benz, Statistician 2013 Hop Production Up Thirteen percent from Last Year Production for Idaho, Oregon, Washington in 2013 totaled 69.3 million pounds, up thirteen percent from the 2012 crop of 61.2 million pounds, seven percent above the 2011 production of 64.8 million pounds. Production increased in all three s; 39 percent in Idaho, 13 percent in Washington, one percent in Oregon. Acreage also increased in all three s; 39 percent in Idaho, 8 percent in Washington, 7 percent in Oregon. Yields decreased in Idaho Oregon, but increased in Washington. United s yield at pounds per acre, increased 51 pounds from a year ago. Washington growers produced 79 percent of the U.S. hop crop for Zeus, Cascade, Columbus/Tomahawk, Summit were the leading varieties in Washington, accounting for 51 percent of the s hop crop. In Oregon, Nugget Willamette were the major varieties, accounting for 50 percent of the s hop production. In Idaho, Zeus, Cascade, Apollo were the major varieties, accounting for 52 percent of the s hop production. The preliminary 2013 value of production of the U.S. hop crop is $249 million, up 28 percent from the revised 2012 value of $195 million.
