9 Farm Radio: The Baseline Facts 76% of Farmers listen to farm radio. This happens regardless of the time of year. Radio is a year-round medium, not just during harvest or planting. Farmers and ranchers are information seekers. Farming is their livelihood and passion. They utilize multiple media platforms. Content is focused on production ag, and delivers timely news and information. They pay close attention to local, regional, national news that impacts daily operation decisions. 10 Radio is the medium of choice during the planting and harvest seasons! 58.9% of producers increase their use of radio during the planting season. While other medium usage drops drastically, only 11.9% of producers decrease their usage of radio during planting season. 55.9% of producers increase their use of radio during harvest season. Only 12.3% of producers decrease their use of radio during harvest season, while mediums like magazines and television drop by 65.8% and 71.2% respectively.
