CSIR-NCL has embarked on implementing Skill India mission of the Government of India and has initiated the CSIR s Integrated Skill Initiative program by offering number of skill development and skill upgradation courses to the graduate and postgraduate un-employed youth in addition to the industry staffs and workers. The main aim of these courses is to create the high-quality skilled workforce relevant to current and emerging industry need in the S&T sector through training/skilling in diverse areas at different National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). It further aims at promoting entrepreneurship through skilling, Training of Trainers and Incubation centre. CSIR-NCL is offering following skilling/training courses initially during the year Skill development in Gas Chromatography (GC) and Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) techniques, course code: SDP_NCL01 (Course Duration: 30 th October to 17 th November 2017) The certificate course in gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), include GC and GCMS techniques. This technique is very much useful in industries as well as academics. The technique is applicable to the identification and characterization of organic compounds, agricultural fertilizers, as well as impurity profiling of drug molecules, etc. This course includes headspace sample analysis, reaction moniterization, qualitative and quantitative analysis. Skill development in Mass spectrometry and Proteomics techniques, course code: SDP_NCL02 (Course Duration: 1 st to 17 th November 2017) Mass spectrometry has become a powerful tool in the area of proteomics, mainly due to the advancement in ionization techniques like Electrospray ionization and MALDI, as well as due to the improvement in the accuracy and resolution of the analyzers with the introduction of Time of Flight (ToF) and Orbitrap mass analyzers. This training course, will discuss basics of mass spectrometry including ionization methods, various analyzers, sample preparation procedures, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, LC-Mass Spectrometry, MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry and different types of acquisition modes, applications of mass spectrometry in determination of molecular mass of synthetic organic molecules, polymers, peptides, proteins, peptide mass finger printing, peptide sequencing, post translational modifications and quantitative proteomics. Skill development of Techniques in Isolation, Characterization and Preservation of Industrially important Microorganisms, course code: SDP_NCL03 (Course Duration:11 th to 27 th September 2017) National Collection of Industrial Microorganisms (NCIM) provides an extensive documentation and detailed identification information on the biological materials. The diversity and quality management of its bioresources render the NCIM an internationally known supplier for science, pharmaceutical laboratories, national reference centers, as well as industrial partners. The research of the NCIM focuses on microbial diversity, ecology and the underlying evolutionary mechanisms (genome evolution, metagenomics), improved methods for the access and ex situ preservation of biodiversity and, molecular mechanisms of biological interactions. NCIM has the specific expertise and offers counseling in the areas like taxonomy, phylogeny and species description, genomics and transcriptomics, standardization and quality assurance of bioresources, and multifaceted biotechnological exploitation of microbial resources. This certificate course is a product of several years of experience and passion for the subject to attract the interest of the student community who wish to master chemoinformatics as a career. There is a paucity of embedded engineers to work in automation, automobile and other industries due to inadequate knowledge and hands on experience on microcontroller based development during diploma / degree courses. Skill development course in Polymorphism in Pharmaceutical Solids and Pharmaceutical Cocrystals, course code: SDP_NCL06 (Course starts: December 2017) Polymorphs, salts, hydrates and cocrystals are gaining tremendous important in pharmaceutical industries because of their ability to modify physicochemical and pharmacological properties of API (active pharmaceutical ingredients) without affecting their therapeutic efficacy. Therefore, pharmaceutical companies are focusing on screening for APIs for polymorphism and the development aspects of novel salts/cocrystals that include physicochemical characterization, scale up, processing and formulations of these materials. This necessitates the requirement of proper training course to the employees involved in the characterization, and formulation of pharmaceutical solids as well as to the fresh M. Biodegradable nanoparticles are usually improved for therapeutic value of various water soluble/insoluble active ingredients and bioactive molecules by modifying bioavailability, solubility and retention time. These nanoparticles drug formulation reduces the patient expenses, and risks of toxicity. Skill development course on Microfabrication and Microfluidics: State-of-the-Art Sensing Applications, course code: SDP_NCL09 (Course starts : February 2018)- Cancelled Microfluidics and microfabrication were initially rooted from micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and now has been established as a separate branch. With microfluidic/nanofluidic technology it is possible to operate on microscale or nanoscale materials for controlling or sensing purposes. In this course, science of miniaturization will be explored with an in-depth understanding of recent technological advancements, applications, knowledge of different manufacturing options, familiarity with all materials choices, and an understanding of scaling laws. This course will cover existing fabrication techniques, detection methods, and related techniques for microfabrication. An overview on fabrication techniques would be given, that includes prototyping (hot embossing, inject molding, and soft lithography) and direct fabrication (laser micromachining, photolithography, lithography, and x-ray lithography) techniques. Skill development course on Quality Control Chemist, course code: SDP_NCL10 (Course starts: March 2018) This program is aimed at training candidates for the job of a Quality Control Chemist, in pharmaceutical Industry and aims at building the key competencies amongst the learner. It will help in gaining scientific knowledge and skills about application of basics of chemistry, chromatography and separation science in instrumental analysis of pharmaceutical products as well as gain procedural knowledge and quality skills for sample preparation and sample handling and skills to perform quality check (Inspection and Analysis), to enable him/herself able to perform routine analysis in lab while ensuring compliance with GDP (Good Documentation Practices), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) & GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and organizational SOP (Standard Operational Protocol).
