6 Visualisation requirements during the incident First 2 days of OSRL being in-country (before the geomatics team arrived) we visualised using Google Earth: Modelling Satellite surveillance Aerial surveillance Dispersant aircraft tracks Dispersant spray locations Shoreline types Shoreline sensitivities *Plus reports of every surveillance flight, dispersant flight and satellite tasking with interpretation and recommendations Requirements then changed and requests were just for raw data then plotted in ARC GIS by the Member s geomatics team Copyright Oil Spill Response Limited. 6

19 OSRL: Visualisation vs. Common Operating Picture (COP) Why is OSRL visualising using Google Earth and does not have its own COP? COP definition: Computing platform based on GIS technology that provides a single source of data and information for situational awareness, coordination, communication and data archival to support emergency management and response personnel and other stakeholders involved in or affected by an incident (IOGP/IPIECA JIP WP 5 Release 2.1) Copyright Oil Spill Response Limited. 19
