2 THE LIQUITEC SYSTEM The Bauder LiquiTEC range of cold liquid applied systems provides robust seamless waterproofing for flat roofs, balconies, walkways and terraces without using hot works of any kind. Specifying LiquiTEC Apart from the main benefit of being cold applied, LiquiTEC is particularly suited to areas where membrane systems would be impractical due to a high degree of detailing, or when access to install waterproofing is restricted. The system is appropriate for both new build or refurbishment projects onto most substrates. An ideal application is the refurbishment of communal balcony areas where tenants are in residence, as the fast curing times coupled with cold application make this an ideal solution, minimising disruption and risk. 3 TECHNICAL CREDENTIALS Environmental The products used in the Bauder LiquiTEC systems are manufactured in a factory which has been operating an Environmental Management System certified under ISO since A specialist Environment and Safety Department ensures that the relevant statutory requirements are observed and implemented, and reviewed on a regular basis. Every year, improvements continue to be made to ensure that the environmental management system of the production plant is the best it can possibly be. All Bauder LiquiTEC products are solvent, isocyanate and halogen free, to ensure minimum impact on the environment. The product can be overlaid at the end of its working life, reducing landfill waste. Independent Certification BBA Certification Bauder LiquiTEC systems have been tested and approved by the BBA and carry certificate No. 14/5152 ETA Certification The waterproofing products used within the Bauder LiquiTEC systems are tested and certified under ETAG Liquid Applied Membranes, issued by the European Organisation for Technical Approvals (EOTA). Fire Resistance UK Standards BS476:PART 3:1958/2004 The roof system has been tested under BS476: Part 3 - External Fire Exposure Roof test, and achieved the designation EXT.F.AA, which is the highest rating available. European Standards The reinforced waterproofing products used within the Bauder LiquiTEC system have been successfully tested under three test methods prescribed under ENV1187. n German Standard - Test method 1 n Nordic Standard - Test method 2 n French Standard - Test method 3 Root Resistance The LiquiTEC products are certified under FLL (Forschungsgesellschaft Landschaftsentwicklung Landschaftsbau) guidelines, which is the benchmark test for root resistance in Europe and has been for the last 25 years. 4 LIQUITEC ROOF SYSTEM The Bauder LiquiTEC roof system offers maximum versatility and the unique characteristics and fast curing properties allow for exceptionally rapid installation times compared with other less technically advanced cold liquid applied systems. When to Specify The Bauder LiquiTEC Roof System is equally suited to both new build and refurbishment applications, with a choice of warm, cold or inverted roof design. As the membrane is root resistant, the system is also suitable for use in both extensive and intensive green roof applications. Suitable structural substrate types include timber, concrete, and even profiled metal if a warm roof solution is specified. The system can also be applied as an overlay to many types of existing waterproofing, such as asphalt, bituminous felt, and even single ply systems subject to condition and adhesion testing. System Variations The standard system colour is blue grey (approx. RAL 7031), although other colours can be achieved by installing an additional finish coat. PAGE 4

It is compatible with most existing waterproofing products, making it suitable for use as an overlay system. Paving/Pebble Ballast BauderJFRI Vapour Permeable Membrane designed to increase the thermal performance of the insulation whilst preventing fines from working their way beneath. BauderJFRI inverted insulation to achieve required U value. Bauder Filter Fleece separation and filtration membrane. Bauder LiquiDEK cold liquid applied waterproofing, fully reinforced with a tough polyester fabric. Bauder LiquiPRIME used to seal the substrate and to improve adhesion. Substrate e.g. asphalt, concrete, timber or existing waterproofing. WARM ROOF SYSTEM The Bauder LiquiTEC system can be used in new build or refurbishment applications in a warm roof construction. Bauder LiquiDEK cold liquid applied waterproofing, fully reinforced with a tough polyester fabric. BauderTEC KSD DUO self-adhesive elastomeric bitumen carrier membrane. BauderPIR FA-TE Insulation extremely thermally efficient, lightweight, fire resistant and zero ODP rated. The insulation is foil - faced on both sides for increased thermal efficiency. BauderTEC KSD DUO self-adhesive elastomeric bitumen vapour barrier. Bauder SA Bonding Primer used to seal substrate and improve adhesion. 6 LIQUITEC BALCONY, WALKWAY & TERRACE SYSTEM The Bauder LiquiTEC balcony, walkway and terrace system was developed to provide the optimum combination of aesthetic and functional requirements; designed to be slip resistant and hard wearing they can also be used for stairs and stairwells. When to Specify The system is suitable for application over almost all structural substrates commonly used for balcony, walkway and terrace construction, and in refurbishment can be applied directly to asphalt and most other waterproofing and surfacing products typically found on existing balconies, walkways and terraces. This avoids the unnecessary expense, risk and disruption of removing existing waterproofing and minimises installation time on site. Cold application and exceptionally fast cure times are a distinct advantage when carrying out work on areas continuously in use by the buildings occupants; inconvenience is kept to a minimum. System Variations The systems comprise a reinforced option for use on areas over occupied premises, or an unreinforced option for waterproofing and surfacing of cantilever balconies, both are available in the following colours. n Stone Grey ( RAL 7030) n Blue Grey ( RAL 7031) n Traffic Grey ( RAL 7043) In applications where it is preferable to install a hard landscaped surface such as paving slabs, promenade tiles or timber decking, or whenever it is necessary to incorporate insulation, a buried version of the system is also available. 7 SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS REINFORCED SYSTEM The Bauder fully reinforced balcony, walkway and terrace surfacing system is used wherever there are occupied premises beneath. It is especially suitable for the overlay of failed or worn asphalt, helping to avoid the costs, disruption and risks associated with its removal. LiquiFINISH is an abrasion resistant system seal coat. LiquiPAVE RF is a self levelling surface layer with large grain, hard wearing crystal quartz aggregate. LiquiBALKON is a certified reinforced waterproofing layer, fully reinforced with Bauder 110g reinforcement fleece, a tough polyester fabric. LiquiPRIME used to seal the substrate and to improve adhesion. Substrate Base e.g. asphalt, concrete. UNREINFORCED SYSTEM The Bauder LiquiTEC unreinforced system is used over unoccupied premises, such as cantilevered structures. Reinforcement is still used to upstands and to cope with any details, as structural movement may occur. LiquiFINISH is an abrasion resistant system seal coat. LiquiPAVE RF is a self levelling surface layer with large grain, hard wearing crystal quartz aggregate. LiquiPRIME used to seal the substrate and to improve adhesion. Substrate Base e.g. asphalt, concrete. BURIED REINFORCED SYSTEM Paving or timber decking can be used over the reinforced waterproofing layer if preferable, with the addition of a slip layer and protection layer to prevent the possibility of mechanical damage. This system should also be used when insulation is required as shown in the illustration. Paving on supports or screed, or timber decking. Bauder U-Max or BauderJFRI Vapour Permeable Membrane designed to increase the thermal performance of the insulation whilst preventing fines from working their way beneath. Bauder XPS (CO2) or BauderJFRI Inverted Insulation where it is necessary to provide an insulated solution. 8 THE TECHNOLOGY The liquid resins utilised in the Bauder LiquiTEC range of products and systems are the result of many years of German research and development. They are based on a unique form of Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), and have been formulated for ease of application in wide extremes of temperature onto most substrates. They cure rapidly to form waterproofing and surfacing systems of the highest performance possible from any cold liquid applied system. Unlike many systems available in the marketplace that are installed incorporating a glassfibre mat for reinforcement, Bauder LiquiTEC waterproofing products incorporate a polyester fleece to provide increased membrane strength and resistance to cracking. This allows them to cope with differential movement of the substrate caused by expansion and contraction due to temperature fluctuations. Benefits in Detail n No hot works required. n Exceptionally rapid and reliable curing. This is due to the fact that the resins do not rely on ambient conditions for a successful cure, unlike the numerous moisture curing and moisture triggered products in the marketplace. n Short trafficking times as a result of the fast cure. The resins reach their final technical properties very quickly, which is particularly useful for refurbishment of communal balconies. n Short rainproof times, meaning a lesser degree of abortive work should unexpected rainfall occur during application. 9 n Tougher, more durable, and increased life expectancy over other types of cold liquid applied waterproofing, due to the system s elastomeric qualities and strong reinforcement fleece. n Superior adhesion to substrates and between layers. n The product cures as a result of a chemical reaction, not by evaporation. This results in a thicker layer of cured membrane compared with many other types of cold liquid applied systems. n There are no extended waiting times between layers, resulting in shorter on-site times for the installing contractor, helping to minimise labour costs. n Resin installation possible at 0 C and below, reducing installation delays during winter months. n Unlike some systems on the market Bauder LiquiTEC is resistant to ponding water, often inevitable on flat roofs, particularly in overlay situations. n High level of resistance to acids and alkalis. n Environmentally friendly.
