8 8 Hoesch Firetec Certified fire protection systems LPC Test UBC Test Sustainable fire protection with Hoesch Firetec Hoesch Firetec systems comply with the FM certification, the Loss Prevention Certification Board and the European fire resistance classes. FM Global's FM 4880 and LPCB's LPS 1181 standards are accepted by investors, property insurers and designers alike for their excellent indication of cladding products' and systems' reaction to fire. The consequential low fire risk enables Insurance Company Assessors to make favourable judgements when considering the protection of life and property and this has an impact on the level of premiums that businesses will pay for fire insurance. Hoesch Firetec systems are available with a PIR or mineral wool core a perfect solution for any application! The Hoesch isorock panel system is certified to A2-s1, d0 in accordance with DIN EN and is classified as a noncombustible building material. Panel systems with a PIR core achieves a classification up to B-s1, d0 and fire resistance classes up to El 60 as per DIN EN as well as a tested fire resistance class of E 90. They are self-extinguishing and, in the event of fire, produce minimum smoke. For this reason they offer comprehensive fire protection and good thermal insulation. What is more, they help cut on insurance premiums. They offer both ecologic and economic benefits along with a great choice of colours. Besides the element joints, all connection parts play a critical role. For sensitive window connections, we have devised concepts with the integrated window system FSI. The profile geometry matches the joint, aligning precisely with the geometry of the panel joint. The result is that there is no loss of precious heating or air conditioning energy. When it comes to installation, we recommend qualified specialist envelope contractors who are experienced in handling our products. Our services include technical consultancy and, on request, a site inspection to ensure that our products have been correctly installed. Our sustainability strategy is geared toward continuously improving our plants, processes and products so as to reduce emissions, save on raw materials, cut costs and ultimately secure the future for the generations to come. This is also true for the Color/Construction Unit companies. The group is involved with developing building elements and systems such as Hoesch Additive Floor which are lighter and thinner than conventional concepts, and therefore clearly less materials and energy are required during production and use. Another promin ent example: Solartec steel solar façade, which converts solar energy into electrical energy. The basis for all these developments is 100% recyclable steel made by ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe.

11 11 Smart solutions in steel for sustainable buildings e.g. Hoesch Additive Floor e.g. Sandwich elements/panels e.g. Solartec Ecological dimension Hoesch Additive Floor is the ideal combination of the mechanical properties of steel and concrete. It enables less concrete to be used, thus making for a lighter building and shorter construction time, which helps save resources. The products offer outstanding thermal insulation and joint tightness, clearly reducing thermal bridges and therefore heat loss. The result: energy efficient buildings complying with Green construction specifications. The module allows the production of regenerative energy by transforming sunlight into electrical energy. Solartec is an integral part of roof and wall panels, integrating photovoltaics into roof and wall envelope. Financial dimension Optimized spans and convenient integration of the system into the building process it can be installed without a crane which gives significant savings in cost and time.
