20 Spray Painting Service 20 In recent years, we have become increasingly aware that paint companies have added a range of colours to their traditional wood stain. This has enabled our customers to be individual in their choice of colour regarding timber garden products, and the Garden Shed can now be practically any shade of your choosing. We provide spray-painting services in a range of 7 colours by Teknos. Teknos paint has been developed for northern European climates, where cold and moisture is a regular feature of everyday weather Teknos Aquatop and primer provides a waterproof, wipeable surface. It has UV resistant properties and is resilient against mould and fungal attack. (Recoat period of up to 3-5 years) Our spray painting service ensures that we can apply Teknos at any time of year, during all types of weather as this is carried out indoors. Garden building that are not constructed with secret nail profiled boards, have the usual fixings exposed. To ensure a smooth finish to these boards, screw and nail holes that may be apparent on the front elevation and exposed side elevation of the garden shed are filled with waterproof wood filler. After sanding the entire font surface, two even coats of colour are then applied by spray with a drying period between each coat. (Please note fascia and side trims are attached during installation and these fixings can not be filled prior to spray painting) If you choose a secondary colour for windows and fascia, these parts are sprayed separately prior to being inserted into panels, this ensures a crisp clean finish with no run. Glazing is installed after windows have been painted. All Aquatop colours have a soft sheen as opposed to a chalk finish which allows the building to wiped down with a damp cloth if necessary (Please note that should you wish a colour outside our normal range, this can be arranged.) 22 Site Preparation 22 It is essential for the shed site to be properly laid in advance of erection, and the following are the reasons we think why this is so. A foundation properly laid is the key to the general stability and life of your shed. We strongly advise that your building be placed if possible on a dry level area in your garden with a view to overall aesthetics and ease of access. We recommend that your garden shed be erected on the following surfaces. A level screed of crushed stone (hardcore) While some manufacturers recommend that the building be placed on concrete blocks, we find that achieving a complete level surface by this method is not always successful. When garden sheds are erected in this way concrete blocks can eventually sink, due to heavy contents within the building or if your garden soil is unstable.concrete blocks may not sink uniformly and can in time compromise the stability of the building. To this end have included at no extra cost a pressure treated sub frame which is placed on top of a prepared level surface. 1. A level screed of crushed stone (hard-core No. 804) 2. A prepared cured concrete solid base 3. Standard patio pavers The addition of our pressure treated base frame on any of the surfaces above will ensure that the floor of building is guarded from ground moisture, greatly improving the life of the shed. Eliminating blocks also ensures that there are no unsightly gaps underneath the building. This is an area where vermin find most suitable to set up home. Adhering to these instructions will ensure a speedy construction and will prolong the life of you garden shed. (We can provide contacts for this service if required) It is essential to let us know in advance if you have engaged a landscaper to design your garden layout. We can liaise with them directly in regard to what space is necessary for the inclusion of garden building in their plan

It ensures when laid on a level prepared site there is no gap under the building. 2. Because it is positioned at right angles to the floor joists it increases stability throughout the entire floor area. Site Preparation There is no benefit removing earth or grass sod prior to laying down aggregate If there is a lawn already in place, cut grass as short as possible Ideally a pressure treated timber frame Fig.1 or block frame Fig.2 should be constructed to contain hardcore (Fig.4 above has no retaining boarder which may result in stone being eroded over time) Hardcore should be laid to a depth of approx. 3 4 inches The finished surface should appear level to the eye. There is no need to whack Our pressure treated base frame will be placed in the centre of this prepared area and floor is placed on top. The primary aim of prepared site is to ensure that it is elevated above the surrounding ground level. After building is installed Fig.3 perimeter aggregate can be enhanced by a thin layer of decorative gravel if desired. An elevated site is not required if area is already paved as in Fig 4 We appreciate that in many gardens it may not be an option to leave an extra foot of space between boundary and building, however leaving adequate space here will benefit the building as it will allow air to circulate more freely around the structure and allow removal of invasive or decaying vegetation, which in time could reduce its lifespan Unfortunately we do not carry out site preperation ourselves but should you wish this service we can forward you our contact reccomendations Fig. 4

(e.g. Lawnmower, Barbeque, Garden Furniture, Bicycles etc.) With shaving foam mark a square or rectangle in the position you wish the garden shed to be located and place all these items within the space. This should give you a rough guide as to size. (The shaving foam will disappear after a short period)) No need to include smaller items than can be placed on shelving or hung from hooks. We would be happy to discuss, what we think would suit your garden scheme, and brief you on ground preparation by phone.
