Analyze the design process for four unique timber structures and demonstrate to participants how the systems used can impact future designs. 2. Provide attendees with a thorough understanding of timber building technologies and what makes these products superior for various structures. 3. Describe building cycle reduction strategies and demonstrate to participants how the benefits of wood construction can impact the process. 4. Review the possibilities in innovative architectural structure through the design-build process.
2 PROJECTS: Olympic Oval WoodWave Roof Arena Stage Timber Facade Central City Timber Structures Lafayette Library Design-Build Delivery: Conceptual Design Detailed Design Parametric 3D Solids Modeling Approval/Shop/Erection Drawings Shop Fabrication Site Erection Richmond Olympic Oval WoodWave Roof Deck, Richmond, BC (2009) Engineer and build 250, sq.ft. beetle pine lumber andplywood tied arch acoustic WoodWave Structural Panel roof deck system. Complete design, development, fabrication and installation of 450+ panels 8 12 wide x varying lengths up to 43. All 452 panels were pre fabricated in the shop, c/w acoustic insulation and sprinkler piping, and installed by in house forces on site.
