5 5 Background ACTO project ACTO (Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization) Project: Monitoring Forest Cover in the Amazon Region Member countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Suriname, Peru, Venezuela Objectives: Contribution to improved governance on matters related to deforestation, land tenure, land use change and sustainable forest management; Provide real time information about the extension and the condition of the forest cover to the ACTO Member Countries.
