10 Background Late 1800 s - Upper Main Ditch built by miners as part of El Dorado Ditch Early 1900 s - Ditch/water rights sold to Western States Gas and Electric Company EID took over responsibility for irrigation/domestic water delivery from El Dorado Water Corporation 10

11 Background 1976/77 EID/Department of Health Service recognized need to pipe ditch Various aspects of Main Ditch piping project have been included in EID s Capital Improvement Program since 11

12 Project Objectives 1. Increase supply reliability by reducing water loss, up to 1,300 acre-feet/year, resulting from seepage and evapotranspiration 2. Protect drinking water quality by eliminating chance for intentional/unintentional contamination 3. Reduce operations and maintenance costs associated with treatment and pumping 12
