3 PREFACE Present Review Milestone Achieved During April, 016 to June, 016. Sanctioned Projects for 1 th Plan & Beyond Status of Sanctioned Projects for 1 th Plan & Beyond Financial Status of Projects for 1 th Plan & Beyond This quarterly review covers the period from Apr, 016 to June, 016 and is 85 th in the series. The objective of this review is to provide up to date information in respect of Hydro Electric (HE) Projects under construction/ implementation in the country. The review covers HE projects under construction likely to give benefits in 1 th Plan & beyond. This quarterly review has been brought out by CEA on the basis of data received from various project authorities, visit made to different HE projects and discussions held with the executing agencies and suppliers of equipments from time to time. Details of HE Projects Rolled/Commissioned during the Quarter is indicated in Chapter-1. A list of sanctioned HE projects for 1 th plan and beyond is indicated in Chapter 5. Broad present status of sanctioned HE projects for 1 th plan and beyond is given in Chapter 6. Financial status of HE projects supplied by project authorities (unaudited) 1 th plan and beyond is given in Chapter 7. Status of Environment & Forest Clearances of H.E. Projects for 1 th Plan & Beyond Dates of Award of First Package Ordering Status of TG set. The status of Environmental & Forest clearance of HE projects for 1 th plan and beyond is given in Chapters 8. The date of award of First Package for HE projects under execution is indicated in Chapter 9. The Status of Time & Cost Over-run of HE projects under execution for benefits during 1 th plan and beyond is given in Chapter 11 The review does not cover HE projects categorised as renewable, each with a total installed capacity of 5 MW and below, as these schemes come under the purview of Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE). Any suggestions/feedback for further improvement in the quarterly review shall be appreciated. The report is in fulfilment of CEA s obligation under Electricity Act, 003.

5 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Trend of Hydro-Thermal Mix as on Hydro: 4, MW (16.46%) Thermal:,11,6. MW (81.3%) Nuclear: 5, MW (0.%) Total:,60,68.83 MW Hydro Capacity Under Execution (As on ): A hydro capacity of 13,437 MW is under execution to give benefits during remaining period of 1 th Plan & beyond. Sector wise summary is given as under:- Sector Central Private 3355 Total: 13,437 MW 1 th Plan Hydro Capacity Addition as Plan Progress:- Hydro Capacity Addition for the Year 01-13: Hydro Capacity Addition Monitorable Targets for the Year was 80 MW (645 MW in Central Sector, 87 MW in Sector, and 70 MW in Private Sector.). A Capacity of 501 MW (374 MW in Central Sector, 57 MW in Sector and 70 MW in Private Sector) has been achieved during Project-wise details are given in Chapter.a. Hydro Capacity Addition for the Year : Hydro Capacity Addition Monitorable Targets for the Year was 1198 MW (914 MW in Central Sector, 85 MW in Sector and 199 MW in Private Sector.). A Capacity of 1058 MW (914 MW in Central Sector, 45 MW in Sector and 99 MW in Private Sector) has been achieved during the year Project-wise details are given in Chapter.b. Hydro Capacity Addition for the Year : Hydro Capacity Addition Monitorable Targets for the Year was 84 MW (336 MW in Central Sector, 10 MW in Sector and 96 MW in Private Sector.). A Capacity of 736 MW in Central Sector has been achieved during the year Project-wise details are given in Chapter.c. Hydro Capacity Addition for the Year : Hydro Capacity Addition Monitorable Targets for the Year was 1691 MW (590 MW in Central Sector, 575 MW in Sector and 56 MW in Private Sector) A Capacity of 1516 MW (480 MW in Central Sector 610 MW in Sector and 46 MW in Private Sector) has been achieved during the year Project-wise details are given in Chapter.d.
