It integrates itself into the existing environmental and social situation and uses the potential of the community and given infrastructure. The aim is to create an independent and selfreliant district, promote local sustainability and foster a strong and vibrant local economy within a healthy community and a thriving environment. The `factory of tomorrow` is embedded in a localized supply-chain, follows a closed loop-production concept and is accessible and transparent for its workers and the surrounding community. It is characterized by an innovative production process in which only non-toxic, renewable resources are used to create organic textiles. The factory offers a high-quality working environment in order to increase the well being of its key stakeholder the factory worker. His working conditions shall be enhanced through high air-quality, sufficient space and natural light in the factory as well as convenient commuting from home to the work place. The architecture constitutes a means rather than an end in itself. It intends to re-build the local economy by creating healthy jobs, promoting community-based production and revaluing the working class.

At the same time the disk presents the core of the development and technical infrastructure. It serves as a connecting link of the private and public areas. The maintained primary construction made of reinforced concrete is advanced with a light, wooden structure which consists of a rod-shaped brace frame unit with a square-shaped timber and a stabilicing planking. The mineral rock wool in-between the squareshaped timber secures the thermal independence of the update. While the common rooms are air-conditioned or heated, the development area presents an insulated buffer zone. Additionally, the surface of the old structure also creates a weatherproof buffer zone. The sunlight is employed as an energy source with the help of photovoltaic cells which are installed on the roof and optimally oriented. The wastage of fresh water is minimized as rainwater is used for the factory, plants and toilets. While an automatic air-condition system with a cross flow heat exchanger is applied for the common rooms, an automatic geothermal ventilation system regulates the temperature in the production area.
