3 Background February 2016: Entergy New Orleans, Inc. (ENO) broke ground on a ~1.3 MW dc (~1 MW ac ) solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant Located on ~14 acres at ENO s A.B. Paterson site Ground-mounted with single-axis tracking 500 kwh 1-hour advanced lithium-ion battery March 2016: ENO provides notice of upcoming renewable energy Request for Proposals (RFP) June 2016: Solar project comes on-line July 2016: Renewables RFP issued 2

5 2016 Renewables RFP RFP sought 20 MW of qualifying renewable resources (solar PV, wind, and hydro) Resources could be located within Orleans Parish or elsewhere, but power had to be deliverable to New Orleans RFP sought 3 types of proposals Self-build 5 MW DG-scale aggregated solar Acquisitions of completed projects Long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) October 2016: Proposals due May 2017: 3 solar projects selected (~45 MW) 4

6 5 MW Aggregated Solar PV Project Scope ENO would own/operate the solar PV systems Systems would be located on customer-owned property under long-term agreements 100% of the energy produced would flow to ENO s distribution system to serve all customers Minimum system size is 100 kw ac (~ 130 kw dc ) Sites must be located in Orleans Parish Primarily focused on large commercial rooftops, but other applications may also be considered on a limited basis 5

7 Host Site Criteria Proximity to ENO s distribution grid Adequate roof space (at least 15,000 ft 2 ) 4 stories or less with reasonable access Roof needs to be free of encumbrances Roof structural integrity and technical suitability (age, material, pitch of roof, etc.) Connectivity (broadband internet) For reliability and safety reasons, can not be located in downtown network (Central Business District, Warehouse District, or French Quarter) 6

8 Roles and Responsibilities ENO Long-term commercial agreement with host site Ownership and operation of the solar PV system(s) Brightergy Louisiana, LLC Negotiation of commercial agreements with host sites Development, design, permitting, construction, and testing Host Site Access to rooftop for inspection and periodic maintenance Connectivity (for system monitoring) 7

12 Timeline and Next Steps October 2017: Filed for approval at City Council of New Orleans January 9, 2018: Public Meeting Early 2018: Install a demonstration system at ENO s Dwyer Road service center If the project is approved by the City Council, all solar PV systems are planned to be installed by early 2019 Any questions and/or concerns? 11
