Relatively thinner, continuous Relatively higher in ash and sulphur content NEOGENE Formed in back deep, deltaic and continental margin basins in regeressive environment Varies in thickness but in general much thicker than those of Paleogene coal. Low ash and sulphur content Low moisture and high calorific value. Mostly sub-bituminous bituminous coals and lignites, high moisture content and low calorific value.
