6 Company Financial Strength About The Group... ESCO Group is headquartered in Marion, Iowa, with satellite offices in Des Moines & Fort Dodge, IA, and in Denver, CO. We employ approximately 300 employees. Our people work out of our offices, as well as, on the jobsite, subsequently working throughout the country, and sometimes, the world. Currently we have the bonding capacity of $10 million per project and maintain a credit line of $5 million. We enjoy a D&B (Dun & Bradstreet) rating of 1R3, which means our credit appraisal for a company our size (1R=10 employees and more) is good. This rating qualifies our financial stress rate to register as Class 1 which is low financial stress. Our D&B Paydex rating is a 80. This is an indicator of payment performance as reported by vendors in our industry. The industry average is 70, and our score of 80 shows that we take our responsibilities very seriously, and we enjoy good relationships with those who supply us with the tools we need to do the best job possible for our clients. 6 6

7 Our Safety Record Client Diversification We feel confident in our client diversification. We have a wide variety of clients in different markets several of which are Corporate Partners. Our client diversification allows us to deliver comprehensive administrative and customer support through staff and technology. One of our most important goals is to continue to provide our staff with what they need to be successful. The resources we ve been able to obtain through having so much diversification in our client base, have been key in providing our first-rate service. At ESCO we recognize the importance of training our own employees in the practice of safety at the workplace. With our OSHA Recordable Incident Rate ( RIR ) at 0.0, and our Experience Modification Rate ( EMR ) coming in at 0.86, we continue to be well under the national average for work related injuries, which is where we intend to stay. 8 Our History From Then to Now Today ESCO is in our third generation of ownership. Throughout our history we have focused on long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with employees, clients, suppliers, and the community. This foundation still stands true today with our current ownership, and will continue as we move forward. In the Beginning Founded in 1964 by Wayne Engle, ESCO was a small, residential electrical contractor that was run out of the Engle home. By the early to mid-1970s, ESCO had grown into one of the most successful electrical companies in the Midwest, working on both residential and commercial projects, such as the Hiawatha Post Office, the Stouffer s Hotel in downtown Cedar Rapids, the Ground Transportation Center, and the APAC building. By the late 1980s, ESCO was in its second generation of ownership with Wayne s son, Dave, running the company. Dave Wayne Engle saw opportunities for ESCO outside of the residential and commercial markets and began growing the business in the industrial markets. He first acquired General Mills as a client and from there began adding more Fortune 500 companies to ESCO s client list. Once ESCO began working with industrial clients, opportunities outside of the electrical construction world arose, and ESCO found its way into electrical engineering and plant automation. During this time, ESCO also moved into OSHA and NFPA 70E safety training. Due to this growth, ESCO Group was created as a parent company, offering specific services focused on our clients needs. 9 Who We Are Today ESCO Group focuses on electrical construction and design, plant automation, electrical engineering, NFPA 70E training, arc flash analysis, and safety consultation. Now in our third generation of ownership, we continue to approach business by focusing on longterm, mutually beneficial relationships, staying true to the standards that Wayne and Dave Engle set in place from our beginning. NFPA 70E: National Fire Protection Association NFPA is the leading source for Electrical Safety Standards in the workplace. John Luke, President, ESCO Safety, is a Principal member of the NFPA70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace Committee and is an integral part of the content that is developed for the standards. Due to this affiliation, ESCO Safety has a leading edge on this expertise and trains over 2,000 workers nation-wide every year. UL 508A Panel Certified Our Panel Shop, located in Des Moines, Iowa is certified in UL 508A panel construction. CSIA: Control and Information System Integrators Association ESCO Automation is a certified member of Control and Information System Integrators Association (CSIA). A certified member distinction refers to companies that have met stringent performance standards as measured in an intensive audit process conducted by an independent third-party consulting firm. In this intensive audit process the auditors look at everything from the company s general management, financial, project, quality and technical management to its human resources and business development. Only after all of CSIA s standards are met, is a company certified. Certified members are re-audited every three years to CSIA s current performance standards and are recertified only if they pass. 15 Facility Electrical Engineering We provide facility electrical engineering design, analysis (Arc Flash Hazard Analysis), construction, and site services. Our primary areas of expertise are onsite generation, power delivery and distribution, and electrical energy utilization. We offer the technical knowledge and the appropriate resources it takes to orchestrate multiple projects efficiently and safely for our clients. We employ over 100 skilled tradesmen, and we are a member of NECA, the National Electrical Contractors Association. Construction Management ESCO Group offers its clients a wide variety of services in order to be an integral part of the plant s growth and productivity. ESCO has professionals that are qualified to oversee outside contractors in coordinating projects. ESCO can take a project off the hands of its clients and run it from its first development stage, all the way to completion. Our professionals will adhere to both ESCO s and our client s safety requirements, ensure GMP compliance, write bid specifications, coordinate vendors, take care of all permitting, perform contractor management, and always give detailed and accurate reports back to our clients. Safety Training and Consultation We take safety very seriously. So seriously that we started a business unit that focuses on safety and the training of our people, as well as our clients. We started ESCO Safety officially in 2003, but have been doing safety training for much longer. In the last 12 years we ve educated thousands of professionals in training courses we ve developed. Our safety trainers have traveled all over the country teaching these courses to many different companies. John Luke, the President of ESCO Safety, represents NECA as member of the NFPA-70E Technical Committee, which is responsible for developing the new NFPA 70E standards that are released every three years. Certain best practices are defined by the CSIA, by which ESCO Automation is certified. Other best practices are developed through employees who are engaged and provide feedback on areas in which there are needs for improvement or a need for a best practice. Those needs are evaluated and feedback is solicited from the stakeholders involved with the area. The feedback is reviewed and draft workflows and documents are created. The drafts are reviewed by stakeholders and then implemented. Prior to the implementation of a new workflow or process, necessary training is completed for the employees. The continuous improvement system is used to capture issues with existing processes and the same system is used in updating any processes. We feel that our investment in this system is how we give our very best to our clients, and to our employees. ESCO Electric works closely with our Safety Directors and utilizes tools such as our own design of a Job Hazard Analysis notebook and the Circle of Safety to continuously bring high standards on the job sites. Our Safety Directors also perform a series of onsite audits designed to help our employees comply with our clients needs and requests, as well as the industry s standards
