In Waverley we value taking ownership, where everyone feels personally committed to issues at hand and is working towards a positive outcome PRINCIPL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE This is a unique role that will be required to provide support to two services, Emergency Planning and Environmental Services. It will provide administrative support to the Emergency Planning and Resilience Officer and Head of Service to coordinate, monitor and review Corporate Health and Safety, Emergency Planning and Business Continuity plans, policies and procedures and to

2 ensure the Council is as prepared as possible in meeting its statutory responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work ct 1974 and Civil Contingencies ct 004. It will provide project support for the Environmental Services team to assist with implementing Waverley s Recycling Improvement Plan. ssist with the planning and delivery projects that encourage recycling and reduce contamination. MIN DUTIES ND CCOUNTBILITIES For Emergency Planning: Provide efficient, comprehensive and professional support to the Emergency Planning and Resilience Service to help ensure that the Council is as prepared as is reasonably practicable for all minor, major and critical incidents. Support the delivery of the Health and Safety and business continuity work programmes to help ensure compliance with the Council s statutory responsibilities. Provide efficient, comprehensive and professional support to the Environmental Services Team and assist with environmental projects. To assist with the coordination, monitoring, development and review of plans, policies and procedures. To provide high quality administrative and practical support in delivering the emergency planning, health and safety and business continuity agendas. To assist with the planning, preparation, delivery and recording of the training and exercise programme to Council employees and external partners in responding to emergencies and business continuity disruptions. To maintain and keep updated emergency planning, health and safety and business continuity plans and documentation, keep accurate records of staff training and exercises. To produce regular reports in relation to accidents at work, out of hours and lone working incident reports. For Environmental Services To contribute to the delivery of the recycling improvement plan to achieve the 60% recycling target. To liaise with officers across other Surrey local authorities with regard to county wide campaigns. To ssupport publicity, marketing and behaviour change initiatives relating to the Recycling Improvement Plan To assist with community engagement events for business or residents, such as roadshows To support the development of the recycling service and offer excellent customer care.

3 DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE Key role in supporting and administering corporate emergency planning, business continuity and health and safety priorities. The post will have no supervisory responsibilities. dministration of a budget of 33,000 RES OF CCOUNTBILITY/PROBLEM SOLVING DECISION MKING / SCOPE FOR IMPCT Responsible for ensuring meetings and events are co-ordinated effectively. Responsible for prioritizing and managing meeting programmes in liaison with other agencies, departments and suppliers. Planning, monitoring and updating project timetables. Ensuring all contact directories and emergency plans are regularly updated, accurate and available for use. Record and monitor all budget expenditure. PLNNING/ORGNISING/CONTROLLING Reviewing and prioritizing meetings and work programmes in conjunction with the Emergency Planning and Resilience Officer, actioning tasks within specified timescales, supervising and signing off completed tasks. To communicate proactively with Borough and Parish Councillors, members of the public, representatives of other Local uthorities and County Council, the Police, contractors and representatives of local organisations to organize meetings and events, provide information, guidance and training in emergency planning and health and safety matters Role to be split three days with Emergency Planning and two days with Environmental Services CUSTOMERS ND CONTCTS INTERNL EXTERNL Head of Environmental Services, Emergency Planning and Resilience Officer, Director of Operations, senior staff from all other services, Borough and Parish Councillors, members of the public, representatives of other Local uthorities and County Council, the Police, contractors and representatives of local organisations. Knowledge of a full range of administrative procedures Basic knowledge and interest in the field of Health and Safety Legislation Understanding of local authority Emergency Planning and Business Continuity.
