1 Job profile Job Title: Line Manager: Direct Reports: Location: Qualifications and Apprenticeships Manager Head of Membership and Qualifications 5 x Centre Quality Officers Wimbledon Job Purpose: To lead CIPD qualifications delivery via the development and management of strong relationships with partner centres. Deliver against operational and commercial targets, ensuring both customer service and CIPD standards are upheld. To lead the centre quality officers team, embedding a high performing culture of continuous improvement. Ensure that approval, re-approval and monitoring quality assurance objectives are met and that there are high levels of engagement with centres. Key accountabilities 1. Lead the delivery of CIPD qualifications via our partner centres. Manage and develop strong relationships with these centres that enable the delivery of our operational and commercial targets. Take a proactive and creative approach to centre relationships focussed on joint development, partnership and trust. 2. Lead the review and development of the CIPD s centre strategy to support innovation and improvement and to ensure that it is fit for purpose. 3. Manage and motivate the Centre Quality Officers. Focus on performance and support ongoing development. Ensure that the team is structured and skilled according to current business needs and plan ahead of time to meet future needs in line with changes to the business. Ensure Officers monitor partner centre performance so that effective partnerships are maintained and no quality concerns emerge. 4. Lead the Centre Quality Officers and collaborate across qualifications and student support to ensure policies and processes are run efficiently and to high standards of customer services. Ensure processes are continually monitored and improvement plans put in place to maximise both operational efficiency and the customer experience. Lead on performance improvement projects with pace and focus ensuring new ideas land quickly and deliver demonstrable improvements. Work collaboratively with the Head of Membership and 1

2 Qualifications to ensure consistency across our membership, qualifications and assessment services. 5. Lead the development and implementation of the CIPD s approach to Trailblazer apprenticeships in HR and L&D. 6. Identify opportunities to help promote and develop good internal relationships to enable CIPD to deliver the best possible service to centres. Work with other areas of the business to develop and maintain suitable market knowledge/intelligence that informs the qualification strategy, identifies growth opportunities for the CIPD qualifications and promotes the cross selling of CIPDs products and services portfolio to partner centres. 7. Deputise for the Head of Membership and Qualifications as required and represent the CIPD by attending and presenting at relevant conferences, exhibitions and networking events in order to raise the profile and awareness of CIPD qualifications. 8. Plan centre engagement activity, identifying the most effective format and making the best use of resources. 9. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key external stakeholders including CIPD s centres, external quality assurance community, other professional bodies and awarding organisations and the qualification regulatory bodies. 10. Keep up to date with external developments in vocational and business education, human resource management, and learning and development. Use insights to inform the development and continuous improvement of CIPD qualifications and quality assurance functions. High level of interpersonal skills to build relationships with a range of stakeholders internally and externally Experience of bringing new qualifications to market Experience of managing budgets Holds relevant quality assurance qualification (desirable) Knowledge and understanding of CIPD qualifications (desirable)

4 Nature and scope The job holder is responsible for the delivery of CIPD qualifications via the management and development of strong relationships with our partner centres. A key element of the role will be to the lead a review and development of the CIPD s centres strategy and the development and implementation of the CIPD s approach to Trailblazer apprenticeships. There is strong focus on team leadership within this role you must be able to lead and motivate the team to achieve challenging objectives and focus on continuous improvement. You will ensure that the Centres team have the knowledge, behaviour and skills to be able to effectively represent the CIPD in discussions with the centre senior management team, delivery and assessment staff and students as well as our wide range of external community members. You will have a good knowledge of both higher education and vocational qualification frameworks, including apprenticeships, in the UK, Ireland and internationally, as the CIPD works with a wide range of universities, colleges and private training providers. You will be familiar with regulatory and qualification requirements and will deputise for the Head of Membership and Qualifications at internal and external meetings as required. The job holder is responsible for working with the Qualifications Management team to ensure that CIPD s Quality Standards are established and maintained across different partner centres and qualification types. A key challenge will be to ensure effective centre relationships are developed and maintained to support the growth of CIPD s qualifications business, whilst at the same time meeting regulatory requirements. A team player, you will also have excellent relationship building and management skills. Communication and presentation skills and the ability to balance competing demands and manage change successfully as a key aspect of the role will be building and maintaining effective partnerships with CIPD s centres. The role holder is part of the Membership Services and Operations Directorate management team and as such required to contribute to strategy and implementation of new initiatives as appropriate. 4
