2 Organization IdM operates under the responsibility of a Director, a Board of Directors with operational tasks, and a Board that is responsible for strategic planning. A Scientific Board monitors and supports every project in order to assess the results of the ongoing activities of the Istituto. 3 Scientific Research While covering a wide range of topics, IdM s research projects are particularly oriented towards analyzing, understanding and facilitating the management of innovation, sustainability and health. Health Management The major areas of research in the Health Management area are: - Models and tools of governance and evaluation of health systems; - Systems and methods for the analysis and management of clinical pathways; - Managerial models for primary and support processes; - Tools and methods for economic and financial management; - Organisational change and human resources management; - Communication and marketing. Management of Innovation The major areas of research in the MAIN/Management of Innovation area are: - Open Innovation; - Service science; - Technology transfer from academia to industry; - Managerial accounting, cost management and performance evaluation; - Corporate finance and corporate governance; - Management and marketing in service industries (insurance, healthcare, pharmacy); - Innovation, evaluation and management of health technology; - Regional development policies. Sustainability Management The major areas of research in the Sustainability Management area are: - Environmental management; - Corporate social responsibility, health social responsibility, health and safety at work; - Renewable energy and waste management.

Training activities - Three second-level Master s degrees in Management of Innovation (MAINS), Master s in Management and Health, Waste Management; - The Master s in Management and Health is specialized in the organization and management of healthcare institutions and it is specifically addressed to high-potential professionals who work in public or private healthcare systems, but also to top level graduates who aim to acquire specific competences. For more information: - Master s of Science (Laurea Magistrale) in Innovation Management: MAIN is a two-year full-time program (laurea magistrale) in English which equips students from different backgrounds with advanced knowledge of innovation management, practical experience and personal skills, thus providing solid foundations in economics and management, a quantitative approach and exposure to a mix of cultures. MAIN is jointly organized by the University of Trento and the Scuola Superiore Sant Anna of Pisa. MAIN students learn to identify, manage and shape the innovative trajectory of the firm in order to exploit its strengths and lead it to success. 5 MISSION Istituto di Management (IdM) is a part of the Scuola Sant Anna and operates in the field of management in private and public organizations, with particular focus on management of innovation, sustainability and health. IdM is the result of a long-term project. During the last decade it has developed towards: - innovation in technological change, organizational change, cultural change and political and institutional change; - an interdisciplinary approach in teaching and research; - the use of quantitative evidence to support decision making processes. We aim at: - finding the right balance between carrying out international scientific research (our first objective) and innovative projects with academic as well as non academic partners; - increasing interdisciplinarity, for example with Engineering (technology assessment, training, research), Medicine (health management, medical technology, transplantation), Agrarian studies (energy), Political Sciences (internationalization), and Law (insurance, patents, environmental and public services regulation); - achieving a fully internationalized PhD course in Management as well as experimenting new initiatives in post-graduate education.
